Total Time = 1h 10m 50s
Overall Rank = 64/250
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 3/23
Pre-race routine:

4 hrs of sleep...change a few diapers. Infinit Clydesdale, 1 bananna for food...water.
Event warmup:

5 min run, 5 min bike, short swim.
Swim
  • 09m 29s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was in heavy breeze and chop. The water was definately tolerable given the temperature of the air. No real problems with the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing...the waves and wind were bad enough that you needed to make headway as quick as possible to avoid being blown off course.
Transition 1
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

No picnics here. Helmet went on slow.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 33m 57s
  • 10 miles
  • 17.67 mile/hr
Comments:

Great ride...kept it under control the entire time. Hills hurt me as the #1 and #2 guys in my AG rode away from me on the climbs. The Planet X 101/80 wheelset is fantastic. No problems in the breeze.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe attack the hills harder but to what end?
Transition 2
  • 00m 49s
Comments:

Quick and easy. Made time up on the #2 guy.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 25m 13s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

Spent the first 1.5 miles trying to catch the number 2 guy in my age group. Couldn't get to him as he was just a bit faster. Hills hurt me again. Need to drop a little more weight as they slow me down just enough...dammit! The course was super windy through mile 3 running accross the dam that made the lake we swam in.
What would you do differently?:

Press harder out of transitition at least to attempt to run with my competition?
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still heavy...

Event comments:

They did a great job adapting to some bad conditions...will be back next year.
