Halfmax is in the process of submitting the actual age-group results to USAT.

I guess there was a fair amount double checking still going on with the offical e-mails from USAT expected later this week or early next to those that qualified for Worlds.

Carol,

I'm so glad to hear that someone else had trouble with the run. I somehow ended up doing multiple loops on the sprint course and was forced into the finish line after only 9 miles. I'm devastated because I traveled all the way from Colorado to qualify and the pace I was holding would have qualified me if I had been able to finish. I went to the pre-race meeting and thought I understood the course, but it was very confusing and the course marshals weren't very helpful. Perhaps they will make another race a qualifier for worlds since there were so many problems.  I'll cross my fingers!

I'm really sorry that you got messed up too. Especially since you would have qualified, that really is terribly unfair :-( Also having travelled from so far away is just salt in the wound. If you feel inclined, feel free to post a comment on my blog where I talk about my screwed up race. I'd love to collect race stories there.

My run pace would not have qualified me, I would have been 32nd with a 5:00 finish time. I still have not heard any response from my email DQing myself, and I am still listed as 5th in my division.

Maybe they will invite every participant to worlds. That would be the fair thing for them to do. Tho, I would not go because they do not put on a good race in my sour grapes opinion!

Carol,

I don't think they (Ultramax) are putting on the race.  It's on a modified version of the Silverman course, and is being run by the regular race directors of Silverman.  I hear that they do a good job.

Sorry that folks got messed up on the run.  It definitely could have been made less confusing!

My understanding is the same on all points---modified Silverman course run by the regular RD on behalf of ITU world's.....

No idea on the e-mails for World qualifiers.  I heard that USAT hasn't even received the verified results yet (as of last Friday).

I  got an email today saying I was on the roll-down list:

"Automatic qualifiers from Halfmax Nationals were given 14 days (until October 28) to register for Team USA. If an automatic qualifier declines their spot, then the next roll down athlete in that age group will be contacted and offered a spot on Team USA. If you are contacted and offered a spot, you will have one week to accept your spot. "

Given the quality of competition at Myrtle Beach, I'm thrilled just to be on the roll-down list!!

Got my email today.  I'm definitely going to hold the spot for the $50, and I'll probably end up taking it.

I'm thinking I'll put up the $50 to hold my spot, but I wish it weren't so darn far away.  So much can happen in a year.
