A few people I know swear by it. Just take a little bit.

Internally or externally?   This is a  legitimate question as I remember granny talking about something called a mustard poultice.

I think you just squirt a little bit on your tongue and swallow.

I've never heard of that but I'd definitely try it. I love mustard. Any excuse to eat mustard.

I actually have heard of this!  My friend mentioned it the other day and I thought it sounded strange.  I can't stand mustard so I unfortunately won't be trying it out, but I would be interested to know if its true or not.

Couple of friends of mine swear by this.  They always carry little mustard packets when we run.  They say it works almost instantly.

Personally, I've never tried it.

So, in the middle of the race, do you stop at the aid station and gasp, "Pardon me, but do you have any Grey Poupon"?

Like to hear the logic and theory behind this practice.

Sounds like something perfect for Mythbusters.  Can't wait for the "Busted."

Well a google search resulted in this:

"For years coaches have given mustard to their athletes with leg cramps. Cramps are sometimes caused by a deficiency in acetylcholine, the neurotransmitter that stimulates your muscles to work. Mustard has acetic acid, which helps the body make more acetylcholine. Take a spoonful or two of mustard."

Apparently vinegar and pickle juice can be used for similar results.

If google found it, it must be true right?

Must be why I really crave a chilli-cheese hotdog when I'm done with a long run, with lots of relish and mustard!
