Subject: RE: Run to Remember Race is complete, and I got pretty close to the time that I wanted. I was aiming for 1:35, but over the past few weeks my right calf has been giving me some issues. I only ran twice over the last two weeks, and only a few miles. Overall, I've been doing more biking than running and only ran about 6 times over the past 6 weeks - not really good training for a half marathon! I ended up with a time of just over 1:38, good for 261 overall out of nearly 5000 participants. Initially, I was holding a 7:15-7:20 pace, but by mile 10 my quads were hurting a bit and I was around a 7:45 pace. I gutted it out and ran a sub 7 last mile. For my next half I'll actually do a little training and should be able to go under 1:35 - maybe even 1:30. Here's a shot of the happy couple after our morning jaunt: |
