Anyone else doing the half marathon in two weeks?

Looking at setting a PR this year - aiming for 1:35.

I'm doing it also, my 4th year. My PR on the course is 1:42 so I'm looking to beat that this year. Maybe we'll finish together.

I'm in.. "this is a training run, his is a training run, his is a training run, his is a training run."

Think I can say that for 13.1 miles? if the Heart Break half is any indication, probably, but unlikely.

Good luck everyone! I'll be there at mile 11 (on Comm Ave and Arlington) cheering on my friend Patty. Tried to start training for this...but just didn't have enough time to get the mileage in. I'll hope for good weather!

I always break a half into smaller races - 4 5ks's. I run a 5k, then another, then another, then another, then I have a little one mile run at the end.

I think I may have tweaked my right calf two weeks ago, and have been going light for the past two weeks - we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Race is complete, and I got pretty close to the time that I wanted. I was aiming for 1:35, but over the past few weeks my right calf has been giving me some issues. I only ran twice over the last two weeks, and only a few miles. Overall, I've been doing more biking than running and only ran about 6 times over the past 6 weeks - not really good training for a half marathon!

I ended up with a time of just over 1:38, good for 261 overall out of nearly 5000 participants.

Initially, I was holding a 7:15-7:20 pace, but by mile 10 my quads were hurting a bit and I was around a 7:45 pace. I gutted it out and ran a sub 7 last mile. For my next half I'll actually do a little training and should be able to go under 1:35 - maybe even 1:30.

Here's a shot of the happy couple after our morning jaunt:

Yea I ran it too, congrats on the time it was a really tough day with the heat. I was in the same boat. Got to mile 10 and didn't have the speed to get it going. Finished a few minutes from my goal.
