Buffman & Squeaky Triathlon
64F / 18C
Overcast
Total Time = 2h 46m 11s
Overall Rank = 69/125
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 13/18
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast at the hotel - Texas-shaped waffle with peanut butter, banana, 1 packet of instant oatmeal, water and coffee. Got the the lake about 2 hrs before the start, and thankfully so. Had to walk 1/2 mile or more down into the canyon. The same canyon that I had to get up on my bike after T1.
Event warmup:

Stretched and jogged about 5-10 min. Nothing serious.
Swim
  • 27m 14s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

FAST swim for me! Must have been the wetsuit.
Transition 1
  • 02m 43s
Comments:

Didn't rush it, but didn't dilly dally much.
Bike
  • 1h 23m 47s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.80 mile/hr
Comments:

Man do I suck at climbing. Got up to speed and was pretty happy with the flat parts.
What would you do differently?:

Improve climing ability
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

Came screaming down the hill into T2 so didn't get my feet out of my shoes.
Run
  • 50m 39s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Probably didn't drink enough, and should have taken a gel. Still hung around an 8 min/mi pace, which I was happy with.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate a burger

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Didn't expect a hilly bike course. Definitely my achilles heel

Event comments:

Great event. Will definitely return next year if I'm still around here
