Does anyone know if the City is planning to fix this road? I was on it again last night and it's sooo bad. I'm surprised they can get professionals to Lifetime with the condition that road is in.

A quick check on the Minneapolis Capital Improvement Projects web site does not show any current or future plans for that road.  It's amazing, isn't it?  The Minneapolis Duathlon also uses the road for the bike segment and it's really terrible.

It is what it is.  Think of it as our own little version of Paris-Roubaix.

Not that I am aware of. The MPLS du used it, and the road was so bad, i wouldn't do that race again unless they fixed it. It was horrid.

I am not racing in Lifetime this year for this specific reason.  They need to move this race somewhere else.

I just think it's weird that they don't fix the road, triathlons and duathlons aside.  I can't think of any other heavily traveled roads left in such bad shape.  While it's easy to HTFU, I also have concern for my bike!

Although I am embarrassed to admit I did sign up for the Mpls Du again.  They offered such a good deal after last years race!  I love the running course, too.  Oh well.

I SAY I wouldn't do it for that reason...but it's a lot easier to make that statement when I know I can't race anyway :p

(Pat swore he wouldn't do the MPLS Half again after last year's cluster...and yet, he registered and is ready to go. So, you know...)

Anyone who knows me will attest to the fact that I am a total princess about road conditions.  I hate bumpy roads!  For some unknown reason, I signed up for MLPS Du also.  I think it was the free jersey.  Anyway, I plan to bring the commuter bike for that race.  I'm NOT wrecking my tri bike on crappy roads.

Really good plan.  I hope you entered in the hybrid/commuter division!  You'll kick butt!

Oh, you wouldn't wreck your bike. Mine--and my 808s were fine. (It really takes a LOT to wreck a bike) You will, however, end up with powerade all over you if you use an aero bottle, and probably bite your tongue and clack your teeth a lot.

But I wouldn't switch bikes for it.
