lol :-)

I feel that way regularly when I brick a bike/run from my house which is right next to a trail.  Mid forties guy in spandex gets a lot of looks in my area.

Oh, that's nothing, I thought maybe you were the buck nekkid guy in the locker room using the hair dryer in an inappropriate manner...

That's okay.  Every day for about a year I was in the gym in bike shorts and jersey WITH cycling shoes and water bottle.  I was bike commuting to work.  I showered and changed clothes at work after hitting the gym for either weights or core...

Na, that's too bad.  Funny, but not bad.  If it helps any:  I get all the wired looks from peeps when I wear my VFF.

I'm guessing that's a lot like the look you get when you wear your wetsuit in the pool.

At least the wetsuit does a better job of hiding the crotch spot for a guy...

Fortunately, I don't have to worry about that.

Picture 95 degree weather, mid summer, outdoor pool, lots of kids and me in a wet suit.

My kids are young, but even that was embarrassing for my oldest (7 at the time).

My son was 11 when he begged me to go swimming with him, since I had a new wetsuit, I went swimming!

My apartment complex has two pools, one for "lap swimming" and one for playing. We start out at the "lap" pool and then I get bored because it only takes 3 strokes to swim a "lap", we then walk over to the play pool. We got the strangest looks from our fellow neighbors. Next I am going to walk in my fins and snorkel to the play pool!

I didn't think it was ever appropriate for a guy to use a hair dryer

Wetsuits in the indoor heated pool are my "that guy" moment!

When I did my trial swim in the pool with my wetsuit...I got changed in the corner, put on my mirrored goggles and tried not to make eye contact with anyone!

I would have to say a one piece trisuit would definately garner some looks though!

I would definitely laugh... at least you weren't walking around the weight room with it on though. I'm sure you be getting funny looks then.

Funny! I bet you did get some looks! Normal people are scared of spandex.

On Monday I was "that person" in the gym myself. Running intervals for 20 seconds with 2 mins of walking around between each one. Too lazy to take the incline down on the treadmill and to slow it down. So paced around it for my rest between intervals. Very annoying to others around me I am sure.

That's awesome. I would totally be looking sideways at someone wearing a tri-suit on the treadmill. But props for not ditching your workout.

Also, that still isn't the worst thing I'd see at my gym.  One guy (huge, musclebound guy) always wears these dental-floss thin 'tank tops', and tiny, tiny shorts. It hurts my eyes.  One of the ladies comes dressed and made up like she should be "working", not working out.

At least a Tri-suit has a functional purpose.  And at least you don't do it intentionally and regularly.

We're a fairly bike-friendly town but there's cyclists wearing bike shorts all over the place.  So 40somethings in spandex aren't all that shocking here I guess.  At least that's what I'm telling myself for those times when I don't have time to change!

I'm a mountainbiker at heart and I NEVER ride my MTB without baggies over the top of cycling shorts.

my first time in public in 15 years with spandex on show was at my first tri last year, since then I have ventured out on early morning rides a couple of times with cycling shorts (road bike of course)... I just don't know if I could ever pull off a one peice!

Props to you for getting the miles in and ignoring the suroundings!

If one thing's for certain, though - I definitely went WAY harder yesterday than I normally do on both the TM and the stationary bike, directly as a result of overcompensating for my dweebness as the only guy in the gym in not just lycra, but a one-piece!

This approach likely backfired though. I'm sure that running so hard that your tongue is hanging out of your mouth, and cycling so hard that you leave a pool of sweat 6-7 feet in diameter around your bike (it was so big it reached the adjacent bikes on all 4 sides - sorry!) doesn't particularly endear you to the rest of the Ballys crowd who are trying to focus on the fascinating magazine article they've got on their bike while spinning 30rpm or the cellphone conversation they're having during their TM walk.
