Comments: I trained with taking walk breaks on my long runs, but did not on the race. I walked a little on the 3mile hill, but couldn't stand it when people would start passing me. There were bands and scream teams every mile or less. My fave - the Elvis impersonator. Favorite memory: As we crossed back from KY to OH, there was a freight train crossing with us. The engineer was waving enthusiastically out his window at us. What would you do differently?: Not much. I broke my goal of 2:45 by almost 2 minutes and finished strongly (i.e., upright and unhurt) Post race
Warm down: walked thru postrace food aisle and back to car - a couple of miles, easy. What limited your ability to perform faster: This is only my second season running. I had to start from scratch in January after an overtraining injury. I'd like to see what I can do with more miles and months in. I always hated running and never dreamed I do any race, much less a half marathon and triathlons! Last updated: 2010-02-08 12:00 AM

Up by 4am, out the door at 4:45. Didn't find a parking space until almost 6 with the race starting at 6:30!
I have never seen so many porta-potties in my life.
It was raining steadily, although not torrentially. I wore a poncho but ditched it at race start. We were self sorted by pace at the start. There were a fair number of walkers with umbrellas (!) who planned to finish the 1/2mary in 2:45hr.
All week I've had "Bad Romance" by Lady GaGa stuck in my head. Guess what was playing as I crossed the starting line!
none other than hiking in the rain to the start. 1+ miles.
