Precipitation
Total Time = 2h 38m 23s
Overall Rank = 245/1058
Age Group = M25-29
Age Group Rank = 24/67
Pre-race routine:

Get off work and drive to Columbia, set up transition, walk around waiting for swim start.

Egg Mcmuffin and Black Coffee.
Event warmup:

Walking around for an hour.
Swim
  • 29m 21s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 58s / 100 meters
Comments:

Pleased with the swim. Drafted for a little bit, ran into a few feet, and was swimming across the course for a bit. Last couple hundred yards were probably the best.
Transition 1
  • 02m 41s
Comments:

Wasn't really in a hurry. Had some trouble getting my suit unzipped, but still had it off by the time I got to my bike.
What would you do differently?:

Get the suit off quicker. Practice some more flying mounts.
Bike
  • 1h 15m 42s
  • 25.48 miles
  • 20.20 mile/hr
Comments:

I think I lost time in the turns, but I also consider myself lucky with regards to the conditions and everybody that was getting flats. So probably the best ride I could have done on this day.
What would you do differently?:

Had problems getting back into the big ring after hills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Took forever to get socks on, but really glad I took the time.
Run
  • 48m 56s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

1st 2 miles was horrible. I was resigning myself to a grinding run. I knew it was going to be bad, because I was cramping on the bike. Probably an affect of not enough sleep in the last 24 hrs.

At the 2nd aid station I took some gatorade, slowly, and slowed down on the 3rd mile, regrouped. After that I just told myself to relax, and finished it up strong.

Overall Pleased with my run, in spite of not hitting the goal, I just don't think I was ready for a 42' 10k. (This was a 10k PR for me, so no complaints there)
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around, and up hill to food.

Banana, Cookie, Water, tortellini salad.

Later had some dope Chicken Parm with Steve and Christy.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weather, transition practice, run pace.

Did I read that right - you were at work then went right to the race? That would be very difficult for anybody, and to pull off a 10K PR at the end is very impressive!

Nice Job!
