I am interested in finding out what glasses work well for you guys when in aero position.

I wear contacts due to fairly poor eye site, but I also suffer from dry eyes.  the sunglasses I wear on clear days don't do me justice when I am in aero.  Essentially what happens is that the frame is right in line with my site when I am down on the bars.  Therefore, my only vantage point is looking above the frame--obviously defeating the purpose of my glasses.

My question is, what inexpensive glasses do you guys wear that will eleviate this problem?  I prefer either a clear lense or a light shaded amber lense as the grey hue plays tricks on me.

I just bought about 12 pair of safety glasses to try out for a whopping total of $26.  Here is a link to several pairs I purchased and the site.  Frameless, cheap and available in several shades (plus clear).  I don't wear contacts so I don't know if it makes a difference.

BTW  These glasses seem to fit very well!

I hadn't thought about that.

I am not that short sighted and usually ride without them, but now it is dark until 6am I will need to wear them. This morning there was a couple of pot holes that I didn't see til it was too late.

I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions, but I'm very happy with my Rx Rudy Project Rydon glasses (same ones I wore before prescription glasses).  I got the Rx ImpactX Photochromic (i.e. "transition") lenses to facilitate all light conditions.

I used to wear contacts for distance, so I couldn't see my watch any more.  So, now I just wear glasses and look out of the bottom to see close.

These have to be the least expensive perscription sports glasses available.  I have two different pair.

Here's a thread I posted a while back with some good suggestions

My favorite by far are the selections from safetyglasses.com

If you have dry eyes and wear contacts you may some issues riding. A BTer I know a few years back injured his eyes while riding with contacts in the wind. When it occurred he couldn't see. He was able to see but had to stop and put in eye drops when he did his IM.

My eye doc won't give me contacts to ride as my eyes tend to be dry.

What I did is buy cheap wrap sunglasses with bifocals at Walmarts so I can read my bike computer and slight prescription for distance. I have lined bifocals that are much lower than normal so when I'm in aero I look thru the far distance part when I ride.

I pick up 6 packs of safety glasses at Sam's Club for $12. They work great and are UV blocking as well. Works for me.

Ditto on the safety glasses for me, too.  I wear contacts and they keep my eyes from getting too dry.  They fit well and cover much more than any pair of sunglasses I've tried.  Cheap & easily replaceable.

I wear Oakley M-Frames with persimmon lenses. They are actually fairly inexpensive when you aren'y buying the expensive irridium lenses. <$150 and last forever.

I had the same problem, and I'll put in another vote for safety glasses.

I bought mine at wallmart.  They were a grand total of about $4, and I've been very happy with them.

Swiss Eye Outbreak Luzzone...no brim to block the view, and decent optics.

I wear contacts and use Tifosi sunglasses to ride.  They have 5 interchangeable lenses for various light conditions ranging from clear to a "normal" pair of tinted lenses. Never had any problem with dry eyes or slippage on a ride.   Broke a lens last fall and Tifosi replaced it for free even though the glasses were way out of warranty.

Sorry to hijack, but has anybody used a type of wax or "rain-x" type material on their lenses so rain/water does not stick to the lenses.  I did a TT yesterday and it started to rain.  I had to pull my glasses down just so I could see.  I know when I wax the windshield of my car, rain and water just runs off as the wind blows, and wipers aren't really even needed.  But I was hesitiant to do so in fear of either damaging my lenses or if the residue from the wax might somehow get into my eye.  I don't have super expensive glasses...but not so cheap where I can just throw them away if they get screwed up.

I am amazed that with all of the gear triathletes get, many are recomending the cheap saftey glasses!  That's a real testament to their function.  I was expecting to see a lot of folks raving about the OAKLEY Jawbones, or some other pair that is north of $200 a pair.  Great stuff guys.  Im totally checking some out at BJ's tomorrow!

Safety Glasses-Home Depot-$1.98.  Done.  Perfect.  Thanks for the advice

But should I have walked across the street to Lowes to see if I could get some for $1.96?

Rain-X great on my motorcycle visor.  I don't see any reason at all why it wouldn't work equally well on the your glasses.
