Well, I'm signing up w/ the next paycheck.  This will be a tune-up for IM Cozumel for me.  For the record, a year ago you could have bet me $1,000 that I'd ever refer to a HIM as a 'tune-up' and I would have taken it.

Are you driving in or flying in?  There is a LaQuinta Inn, a Marriott and a Crowne Plaza all on NW Expressway pretty close to the race site.  There are also quite a few hotels near the airport.

The Marriott and Crowne Plaza have discount rates for racers:  http://www.redmantriathlon.com/Athletes/Accommodations/tabid/70/Default.aspx

I am in, too! Looking forward to the Half, though training for me has been fairly limited to cycling, with a commitment to completing the 2010 Triple Bypass ride July 10. I know I need to learn how to run, but first things first.

I'm planning on racing the half as a tune up for IMFL. I still need to sign up for the race.

Doing the Half.  Just did HIM Kansas. I've heard super great stuff about this race.  I'm really hoping to qualify for Half Max with this race!

3 months and counting.  Woo hoo!

Does anybody know where I can find Course Profiles for the bike and run?  I've found the maps, but can't find the profiles.  Also, anyone know what the altitude is down there?

It's flat & windy, and altitude isn't much at all.  Wikipedia says it's 1,200 feet above sea level.

Bike route:

Notice the elevation graph doesn't go above 1% grade anywhere.

As Ray mentioned in the IM thread, the bike & run courses have changed.  They've got new maps on the site.

yeah, looked at them. the bike route now has multiple loops (half-2 and full/aquabike-4) with lots of turns... wonder if they had issues with going into the next county?

I'm planning on signing up soon.  First HIM.  I live 1.5 miles from the start.  It'll be nice to wake up late and ride in.

10 day outlook showing upper 80's near 90's for the next 10 days.  Any locals have the inside scoop on humidity?

Colorado weather has gone all scizo with upper 40's/50's in the am, to 70-90's depending on the day.

No wonder it gets that much harder to train this time of year.

It's race week folks, how is everyone doing? I had to switch to Aquabike due to an injury. Looks warm in Ok, hoping for wetsuit legal but dunno. First time for this venue, getting excited. Any tips from previous participants?

Well.... last year the humidity was 100% pretty much the entire race

Good luck to everyone this year!

It's on.  Flying in tomorrow.

Anyone want to swim on Thursday AM?  Gonna test out whether to wear a sleeveless or skinsuit.

Weather today and tomorrow looks rough with the high winds.  Any locals know if the recent weather.com info is right?  Looks like Saturday might be around 83 or so?.

C ya soon!

Guess I'm ready. I started out strong at the beginning of this season and it has dwindled down into poor performance all the way around. *Sigh*

I am going to push it on the swim and hope for around a 18 mph average on the bike. As for the run, I know it won't be what I hoped to do. I have had an Achilles tendon issue pop up in the last week. Couldn't even run more than .25 last night without pain. Yeah.

So I might just be surviving this race. Really not what I had hoped for... but that's how it goes sometimes. I just hope it does not rain.

Good luck to everyone else!

Goals for Redman half-ironman on Saturday:

sub-45 minute swim
16+ mph bike(3.5 hours)
sub-12 min/mile run(~2:37)

With 10 minutes for transitions, that puts me right at 7hr 02min. That wouldn't be my fastest 1/2-IM ever, but this is basically a training day for me so I'm not blowing it out.
