Anybody do the practice swim this morning?  It was pretty choppy!

Front's moving out, so we should be good for Sat.

I would never do a full iron distance race here.  It's not that the RDs are bad or anything - in fact, everything was very well done - but the run course is brutal.  There's like 200 yards of shade in each 6.5 mile loop, you can't escape the sun.

Yea, the weather was just perfect.  True, there was no shade on the run, but I really didn't mind.  The occasional light clouds helped.  I liked that it was a bit winding and I could see other runners to chase.  But I'm not sure I could handle doing an IM on this course: 4 loops on the bike and then repeating 4 loops on the run -> I don't think I could handle it mentally.

RDs did a great job; I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for a less-expensive, but very well run Half-Iron.

Yes, we had a great weather day Saturday. If it would have been Sunday, yikes with temp drop and high winds would have been a rough day. I enjoyed the venue, well organized; would have liked to see a few more buoys from start to first turn buoy otherwise well run race. How about athletes walking the swim, funny, saw one guy with a snorkel. Overall, a relaxed environment, much like Ironstar.

I thought this was a great race. My first half and I was pleased with the support and the setup. 6:12 for me in my first race at this distance and a 2nd place Athena award. (Qualified for Halfmaxx in Athena yay!)

I don't think I could bear the continuous loops for the full-distance there and you could not get away from the sun as the day progressed. But flat (if you like that) and well-supported. Thank goodness the lake/wind was much calmer on race day than Thursday.

Hope everyone had a great day!
