Total Time = 2h 16m 39s
Overall Rank = 24/400
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 1/9
Pre-race routine:

Oatmeal, berries, water.
Calmed the air over eaten oatmeal.
Packed up at 4:45. Out by 5:00. Pulled over to adjust the bike racks.
Arrived what I thought was plenty early. Checked in and went through everything. Bike started skipping on its shifting so panic set in.
Got it settled by eliminating the smallest gear and over correcting. Probably a bad idea but it worked.

Event warmup:

Got into the water and was pleasantly surprised it wasn't frigid.
Swim
  • 25m 12s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 32s / 100 yards
Comments:

Times wise, it was fine.
Effort wise, I left a lot out there. Not swimming the week before the race as not a good idea. I lost my feel and was not as confident as I should have been.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, just more prep.
Transition 1
  • 01m 2s
Comments:

Well... how many near disasters will it take for me to practice this.
1)almost didn't take my helmet even after I watched it fall off my bike
2)flying mount sucks when you're going up hill and hadn't practiced in a full month.
3)Straps not staying in place that keep your feet from going in do not help.

The time was a-ok but having to stop, remove a shoe and strap, completely negated the quick transition.
What would you do differently?:

See above
Bike
  • 1h 07m 44s
  • 24.9 miles
  • 22.06 mile/hr
Comments:

Great ride after my pit stop.
Had issues with the shifting but, you don't really need every cog do you? skipping around is fine.
Went hard, definitely could have gone harder at the end but lost my perception of how close to the finish and was freaking out about a no pass zone.
What would you do differently?:

get bike tuned up before the race
Transition 2
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

:(
Almost fell while dismounting. Did the cyclists sprint-click back to the rack. In and out quickly, just not efficiently. And took a drink of water
Run
  • 41m 35s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 06m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Great run.
Pushed with a guy that lost his chip for a while then dropped him with about mile and a quarter left.
I think the course was a bout a quarter mile short. I ran fast but I don't think it was that fast.
What would you do differently?:

Definitely could have pushed harder (sure I say that now)
Post race
Warm down:

.5 mile run on my own after I hung out with parents and gf. New I had a good race, didn't realize how good until the results posted. 18 minute PR from the last olympic.

Award ceremony was fun and the visors are pretty nifty.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing I wouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg for.

Training was right on and I'm moving forward.

Event comments:

Pizza and water bottles were a great touch.
