Veteran 233 Madison, New Jersey | Subject: Aero Bottle - Yellow mesh setup Ok, so I have a profile design aero bottle but not sure how exactly how to use this yellow mesh thing and still be able to refill the aero bottle on the fly. Can someone please explain this to me. Also, if you have a pic of how to stick this thing in the bottle that would be helpful. Thanks |

Extreme Veteran 590 Sioux Falls, SD | Subject: RE: Aero Bottle - Yellow mesh setup I don't have a pic handy, but you just unwrap the yellow mesh then shove it back in the bottle towards the top. Then when you refill you just pour the water in and it goes right through the mesh without any problem. Doesn't look pretty, but it works. |

Expert 774 | Subject: RE: Aero Bottle - Yellow mesh setup I don't use the yello brillo pad. I just refill the bottle through the cap which has a rubbery liner. Make sure you don't wash that liner in the dishwasher or it will shrink. Don't ask me how I know this, but Profile Designs customer service was cool and sent a replacement. |

I have only been using water in my bottle because the sticky mess from sports drinks all over my bike irritates me. I can't imagine how the shower poofs would be any different than the PD yellow thing but I may try that too. |

Even using the shower poof, I only use water in the aero bottle because anything else tends to make a sticky mess if you try to refill on the fly. |

Extreme Veteran 662 Sunny San Diego | Subject: RE: Aero Bottle - Yellow mesh setup Before you throw away the yellow mesh... When you put the yellow mesh into the aero bottle, put it all the way into the top section of the bottle and orient it so it is positioned horizontally in the same direction as the front wheel. The mesh should take up all of the top section and none of the mesh should be sticking out of the bottle. Do it this way and the yellow mesh will not fall out. Unfortunately if you use any kind of mesh, it will splash when you hit a bump. That's the price you pay for being able to refill the bottle on the fly. If you use sports drink, expect to get sticky and expect to wash the sports drink off your bike. If you are doing a short race where you won't need to refill, just cover the hole with plastic wrap and hold it in place with the supplied rubber bands. |

Expert 1116 Thornton, CO | Subject: RE: Aero Bottle - Yellow mesh setup I actually use both the supplied cap and neoprene like thing in the cap AND the yellow mesh thing. Cap on, yellow thingy rolled up like how they sent it, then shove yellow thingy in top through neoprene like thing of the cap, half in/half out. Sticks in tight, barely (if any) splashing, and I just squeeze other bottle into it as I go. |

Subject: RE: Aero Bottle - Yellow mesh setup Spend the $1 on the shower poof...you won't regret it. I can give you 5 reasons why the shower poof is a million times better than the yellow thing ever will be...but it's not worth my time to convince you to spend $1. Once you try it yourself, you will understand. Edited by tri808 2010-05-29 2:16 AM |

Expert 950 Ann Arbor | Subject: RE: Aero Bottle - Yellow mesh setup When I bought mine, a friend instructed me on a good way to use the poof: 1 Unravel the poof so it is one long piece of mesh 2 Lay one end over opening of AeroDrink 3 Fold over, fold over, fold over, etc 4 Push it down into the top of the bottle I only got to use it once before my dad threw away the poof. I now use a circular cleaning scrubber that is made out of the same material. |

Extreme Veteran 508 Fleming Island, FL | Subject: RE: Aero Bottle - Yellow mesh setup I guess I have the older style Aerodrink because mine did not come with the black cap. I used the yellow pot scrubber that came with it on one ride and my water splashed all over the place. I came home and searched on BT because I knew someone had found a better solution. The recommendation that seemed the easiest was the one I liked best and that was the $1 shower poofie. I have been using it for years now and it works great. I even took mine apart and cut it smaller so that it was easier to insert in the top and I still do not have a problem with splashing. How do you have your FR 305 bike mount (I'm assuming its the 305, looks just like mine) attached to your stem? Kevin |

Kevin I found out how to mount it here on BT. The only modification I made was to add some high density foam underneath the mount that I shaped to give me a better viewing angle. Pro 4360 Baton Rouge area | Subject: RE: Aero Bottle - Yellow mesh setup One thing I have done differently is that (based upon a tip for another BTer LRR) I went to Home Depot and bought a foot of smaller tubing that just barely fits inside the flex tube they provide (cut to proper length to fit me). Makes it easier to drink (it flexes back towards me), a bit softer so easier on the lips if you hit a bump, and being smaller it must be more aerodynamic (should I put the last statement in red? ) Also, make sure to wash off the yellow mesh after your rides along with the bottle! Expert 1215 Austin, TX | Subject: RE: Aero Bottle - Yellow mesh setup Take the yellow thing that came with the bottle and completely unroll it. It will be a 3" wide, flat strip of mesh. Then starting at one end, roll it up into one big roll. I have not had problems sinc esomeone showed me how those things are supposed to be used. |
