Overall Rank = 297/612
Age Group = M40-44
Age Group Rank = 38/75
Pre-race routine:

Set up transition area. Got my chip and body marking. I paid for the event parking which was the best deal ever. I was only parked about 100 yards from my bike so I was able to kick back and chill in my car for awhile.
Event warmup:

Swam about 50 yds and jogged about .5 miles. Stretched and loosened up.
Swim
  • 37m 14s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 16s / 100 yards
Comments:

Decent swim, can't complain considering the prep for the race was minimal. I felt comfortable the whole time.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

Decent T-1. Not my best performance, but not bad for the longest swim in a race ever for me.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 15m 42s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.70 mile/hr
Comments:

Had some gusty wind on the return and we got rained on pretty good so the roads were wet. I'm a little disappointed in my bike leg since this is usually one of my better legs.
What would you do differently?:

Train a little more.
Transition 2
  • 02m 9s
Comments:

Took extra time getting socks on. Same old story with my T-2 when I don't run without socks.
What would you do differently?:

Condition my feet to run lnger in my Zots without socks.
Run
  • 50m 38s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

I was tired. My left leg was partially asleep from por positioning on my saddle on the bike leg. It took about 1/2 mile to get it woken up and feeling normal. The run ended up being my best leg today.
What would you do differently?:

Adjust my bike saddle positoning a little.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked and stretched.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training.

Event comments:

I am generally pleased with how I performed given the amount of effort I've put into training this year. Work has been crazy and I just haven't given as much as I should have. The swim gave me some confidence that I will survive in Kona in 3 weeks. I won't blaze any trails or set any speed records, but I think I'll complete the course. I like this race and if anything, I'm disappointed more in myself in the poor preperation. I kick myself when I realize what I could have accomlished if I had even given half an ounce of real effort to train.
