Swim
  • 02m 53s
  • 200 meters
  • 01m 26s / 100 meters
Comments:

swim felt good. passed 5 or 6, can't really remember
What would you do differently?:

swim a little faster
Transition 1
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

had a great transition. rubber band snapped off just as practiced got into my shoes then climbed the first hill before tightening my shoes

the first hill was right out of transition so i ran out of room but it all work out and i didn't lose any time
What would you do differently?:

nothing i hit the transition just how i wanted...glasses helmet bike off the rack and off i went.
Bike
  • 33m 7s
  • 11.5 miles
  • 20.84 mile/hr
Comments:

first 4 miles felt like i had injected silicone into my quads but they eventually started loosening up. i believe it was from catching my breath from the swim. once i settled in my legs were good.
What would you do differently?:

climb the hills faster maybe
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

had a great transition. bike racked helmet off. slid shoes on grabbed my hat and put held it with my mouth while running and putting my belt on, then put my hat on
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 13m 47s
  • 2 miles
  • 06m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

the run was tough inside the first 1/4 mile...my left calf cramped several times. i think i stopped three times for about a 5-8 sec stretch each time. by the half mile mark it had settle and i was off and rolling. quads were pretty much spent with about a 1/4 mile to go so it was just guts at that point.felt like i was running 9 min pace but i could tell from my breathing that i was moving pretty well so i just kept pushing. had a good strong finish.
What would you do differently?:

probably sprint the finish. i ran hard but didn't real burn out. i think i was just content to get to the line.
Post race
Warm down:

drink water and lean on a fence while talking to my friends and family

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my short bout with the cramps

Event comments:

since this was my first race i wanted to just have fun so i didn't wear a watch. i have to say that was probably the best decision i made. i was smiling and really enjoying myself during the entire race.
