Comments: I didn't get in the water before the race, and that was a mistake. They said the temp was in the 70s, but that was the coldest 70 degree water I've ever been in! total shock to the system, and I thought i might hyperventilate. But, it was over in a flash. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: The bike course was down a hill, up a hill, up a bigger hill, then down a big big hill. My 808 front was waaay too sketchy on the descent, so I braked like crazy. I experienced the first of many climbs for the weekend, and a sense of terrible foreboding descended (ha) on me as I watched my watts spike into 300 while my speeds were at 6mph...oh boy. Good thing I just got a 12-27 cassette!! Transition 2
Run
Comments: Quick transition, then I tried to run semi-hard on the run. Ran through giant puddles of wet grass, then onto a dirt and rock fire path. Fun stuff! Sprints friggin' hurt, and I just couldn't muster up any more speed without sacrificing recovery time. I felt like I raced this one pretty spot on. Post race

Drove to Ohio, circling Toledo once. Oops, I'm a terrible navigator. We also had to stop in Columbus to get spare tubes and CO2 cartrigdes because I got a flat last night for the first time in 2 years. That was NOT a good pre-race bike check up!
Also, we set up our campsite before heading over to the race.
The race started at 5:00 pm. It is a super-super sprint, so it felt great to not be nervous! Goal was to go hard, but not flat line, since it would be a very long weekend.
