#366 wave 3. Please dont stop to help the flailing idiot in the swim. Its just my pathetic swimming ability. I may also be weaving and sloppy on the bike because I am riding the John Stenner 38K Time Trial Championship on Saturday and the legs may still be a little sore. Good luck everyone!

Do we pay the Boulder Res entry fee for packet pickup and race day?

Is it hard for spectators to get into the Res once the race starts?  Should spectators get there before 7:30?

Thanks

No fee. Entry is free for athletes, but not sure for others. Last year my wife and kids also got in free. They should be able to get in after the race starts. You can park in the south parking area on the grass without going down the reservoir road (just off 51st st). Marshals will be there to guide, however there may be lots of bikers out and 51st street is narrow so be careful!

My first big Tri race and I can’t wait.  Hopefully my new wetsuit won’t rub me the wrong way.  The Falcon Sprint this past May was great but had no where the amount of people racing.  This should be a good learning experience for Bolder Peaks and Bolder 70.3 Ironman.  Yee ha bring on the race.  I’m bib 301 Wave 3 say high if you see me amongst the sea of blue caps.

I thought in the past they had an elite group go first, followed by age groupers. Did they change that when WTC took over?

Reason I ask is I'm in wave 1, Bib #97...but no where close to elite.

Either way it should be a great day.

#891, wave 6 for me. I'll be in a blue/white/brown Sugoi tritank with a white Brooks visor on the run.

I was in the last wave of the Peak two years ago...I got really nervous when I started seeing the motorcycle marshall for the pros as I was riding back to the res on 63rd. They didn't pass me on the bike, but they were close! I never did see the first 7 or so pro men, since they do the one mile out and back three times for the run. I finished about the same time as the 3rd pro woman. Did I mention that they started over an hour behind me? Undecided

I searched through the entrance list and only found two people in the PRO category.  One male wave 1, one female wave 6.  A quick overview on the list and it appears the waves are organized by AG.

I was in the first heat last year as well.  I think the sprint is just broken up by age group.

The Pros have a separate start, well after the AG waves have gone off.  For the Peak last year, it was really neat to see them going out on the bike course as I was coming back in, then not so neat to see them again much too soon on the run course Surprised

Yep, sorry. I guess I should have qualified that I was in the last AG wave. The pros have a separate start and instead of doing an out and back run course, they run the first mile of the course out and back three times, for more visibility for the spectators.

So then, it would appear after reading the discussion on the PROs my new goal is too at least beat the 4th place pro.  I think an achievable goal if they start an hour after me.

Don't worry about what wave you are in.  If you're not a strong swimmer just figure that if the second wave catches you then you get some fast people to draft off for a while ;-)  It's actually in your benefit ;-)  Remember, the best drafting position is because of the wake they create as they swim, so if people are passing you, you're just getting a free lift from all their waves ;-)

Good luck and remember to have fun out there.  You'll learn a tremendous amount at your first tri, but there's no reason to be nervous about it.

Lance, I have to punt on a Boulder ride today after all, it turns out I'll be going up directly from my kids swim meet and don't want to leave the bike in the heat of the car all morning...

That was okay.....my son was sick yesterday and today, so we're kind of taking it easy today.  I live close to Aurora resevoir, so I am going to get out this afternoon and get a quick swim in instead.  I did drive the bike course earlier today and it should be a quick one, nothing too hard on the hills and once you get to Niva rd. it is flat or downhill most of the way back in.

Good luck tomorrow...
