Total Time = 1h 13m 12s
Overall Rank = 12/76
Age Group = M30-39
Age Group Rank = 3/14
Pre-race routine:

Volunteered at the race from 6:00 until 10:00 when we went down to register for our wave. Setup transition and tried to warmup after being in the rain and wind all morning.
Event warmup:

Swam 200m.
Swim
  • 12m 50s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 43s / 100 meters
Comments:

Decent swim for only the third time in the pool in 2010. I think this is my slowest swim time ever at this race but I was expecting to be closer to 14 minutes so I will definitely take this result. Goal was to just swim as strong as possible and get to the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Train :)
Transition 1
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Solid T1 except being rerouted for the paramedics. Added some confusion.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 36m 20s
  • 20.8 kms
  • 34.35 km/hr
Comments:

The bike is where I have been training the most (bike commuting mostly) and I wanted to do a little better. I had trouble settling in on the bike and then my left aerobar pad twisted so I was fighting to keep my left arm on the pad for most of the race. This led to some issues in comfort on the bike. I also had some calf cramping; whether this was due to the aerobar issue or just lack of fitness I have no idea.
What would you do differently?:

Check bolts before race and a bit more time on the tribike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

No issues
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 22m 23s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 29s  min/km
Comments:

Just had no speed at all in my legs. I need to run more but based on 1-2 runs per week this is about all I could hope for. I was able to hold off a guy in my wave who was gaining through the first lap but didn't put anytime into athletes that I can usually run down.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Post race
Warm down:

Got into the shower to warmup.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training; 2 swims in 2010 and running 1-2x/week does not come close to race shape.

Event comments:

As good a race as I could expect based upon my fitness this season.
