So, today is the second day in a row I've seen something posted making a reference about a "Marathon Maniac". What's the deal with this? What is a "Marathoin Maniac" anyways?

Thanks for the link. I guess it is not an Ultra marathon thing as much as a standard marathon running thing.

Thanks again,
Buck

I'd say there's a fair amount of cross-contamination in those two gene pools.

Checkout the Marathon Maniac website for more specific information about the requirements.  Basically in the "marathoning world" there are 3 Marathon groups: 50 States Marathon Club, 50&DC Marathon Group, and then Marathon Maniacs.

The goal of the 50 States Marathon Club and 50&DC Marathon Club is to run a marathon in all 50 states (&DC for one club).  The Maniacs don't care where you run - just count the number of marathons you run to determine your level in the club.  (People in all three groups frequently will run a marathon from week to week or two marathons per weekend!)

Most people who are in 50 States Club also are a member of 50&DC Group - and now join the Marathon Maniacs when they hear about it.  They really are fun groups to join.  Imagine traveling all over the United States and frequently seeing people/friends you only see at these runs!  (I've run a marathon in all 50 States - two times!   I'm working on my 3rd time.)

FYI: You can join the 50 States Club/ 50&DC Group when you have run a marathon in 10 states.  You are a "finisher" when you complete all the states.

I did 3 marathons in 3 weeks to join Marathon Maniacs. #674 here. It's neat to go to races and see others wearing the jerseys or hats. Instant race buddies. I've done several marathons where I see other Maniacs at the start area and ended up running the whole race with them.

Do you plan all your vacations around a marathon race?
Do you start to feel down when you haven't run a marathon in a while?

These are two lines about Are you a Maniac?

Pretty much spells it out for me.
