Rear Bottle Cages

What saddle are you using?

I use an X-lab flat wing on one bike and a super wing on the other. Both of them have Novara Slider Cages. I throw a rubber band around the back brace and over the bottle's nipple after it's in there and have not launched a bottle yet. After filling the aero drink beastie up, put the bottle back in and putting the rubber band back on is optional.

(edit) oh, the Novara cages are about $5-6 each.

I use a Profile Design RM-1 System and have not launched a bottle yet, knock on wood.

Please, for your fellow cyclists buy yourself a good one.  My first HIM there were so many launched bottles it wasn't even funny.  I got pretty good at dodging them.  The final insult to injury was being passed by some guy who also had CO2 cartridges in his.  After he passes me he hits a bump and sends a CO2 flying, bouncing right by me.  Really, do you need to have CO2's that accessible?

Also have this system - it's been great so far - even over some rough roads there have not been any issues. It's also cheaper than most of the x-lab systems.

FYI, they don't come with the co2 attachments.  I called and asked about them (I'd seen them in the stores and they were included) but the guy said they got these on a closeout and they didn't come with them.  You can buy them online for about $10 though.

I have X-lab with some cheap bottle cages. On the odd occasion that I use the rear cages, I just tape the bottles in using electrical tape with a tear tab for easy access. Not very elegant, I know, but I still don't see the need to shell out for expensive cages - it works.

The solution to launched bottles -- horizontal mounting.

Here's the system I have now (Minoura double cage saddle mount, Profile Tri-Stryke saddle). I REALLY like this setup, as it puts the bottles just behind my thigh, and they're easy to reach while staying aero.

^^ Can you fit a saddle bag above that bottle mount?  I have a Hydrotail and am not sure I'm liking the 'storage' design.

I had a tire sock type bag strapped onto the top of it for the tri I did last week, so , yep.

Do you (or is it possible to) attach a mini took bag at the rear while system is on?

How does it hook up on the seat? I have a E7 Trek with original seat. Will it work on mine?
