One of the "older" girls had a 27mph bike split. She beat all of the guys and invited female racers. The elite male splits weren't listed. Wonder if she beat them too! LOL...Talk about being chicked.
The 10 minute difference is probably what screwed up the results pages. Hopefully the final updated results will be available soon.

I finished right at 1:12:18 and was 4th in age group M30-34. The bike was nice; could have gone a bit faster, but didn't want to push it.  It was already fast with everyone just flying. 

Still needed to pull the run home and it was getting hot!

You're right, Keri. I hope they get it corrected...although for a brief moment I can say I swam a sub-1:00/100 pace. Ha!

There is no way that 27.7 mph is legit.  A 46 year old woman was 2 mph faster than the best guy???  No chance.  I'm going to call B.S. on that one.  Either the timing chip screwed up or she cut the course somewhere.  Her other times don't seem to warrant a professional level bike split.  Chrissie Wellington, by far the best female triathlete that ever lived, could only manage 25 mph in a 21 mile time trial in May.  I kind of doubt that some lady twice her age at some local Texas tri is way faster than the best female triathlete in the universe.

Seems like they had all kinds of issues with the timing.  Only 5 of the top 30 guys in my AG (M40-44) had bike splits.  I know all my splits because of my Garmin 310xt but it would be nice to know where I ranked with the 15 guys ahead of me.

Oh so it wasn't just my bike - the road for the last couple of miles was really rough wasn't it?  I thought my rear brake was rubbing against my wheel or something....

I had to ask someone if I had a flat.  That section of road was a good 2 mph slower than the rest of it. 

It was a fun race, I had everything go wrong race morning. but thankfully running isn't very mechanical with equipment and I was able to go from 7th or 8th off to bike to finishing 3rd oa at the end of the run.

Some people on BT hollered at me and it was nice to meet you all, send me a comment so I can follow your log.

yea, that bit after the 2nd turn around was way different than the rest of the course.  seemed like it was ribbed for water run off or something.  i rode the white line and it was a little better.

good race overall.  smoked my time from last year by 13 min.  pretty happy about that.  ready for next year!!

Great race! You went flying by me on the run ~1mi in and I could tell you were hauling, congrats on the 3rd place.

It looks like they fixed the women's swim times.

I'm curious if the T1/Bike/T2 timing glitch will ever get sorted out so that we can see our actual splits or if that's gone forever.

Not to beat a dead horse but they need to find out what the deal was with the F45-49 "winner's" bike split because a timing glitch or her cutting the course took away the AG win from the real winner. Unless Lance Armstrong put on a wig and raced as a 46 year old woman yesterday - that near 28 mph ride was impossible.

Gah.  All you guys are making me wish I took part.  I live maybe 5 miles away, but had some scheduling conflicts.  I should have cleared them.  Darn it.

This was a slightly longer race then last year right?  I think last year we started from the opposite side of the finish side and more up the lake some.  I think last year they said it was a 482 meter swim.  Same 14 mi. bike and I think the run was 3.3 mi. last year. I might be wrong

You are right.  Last year they billed this as an 1/8 Ironman distance so all the distances were kind of wonky.  The swim this year was 500 vs 482 and run was 3.5 vs 3.3.

I had a bike/T2 glitch on my time too - I'd love to see that fixed because this was by far my fastest bike ever - still SLOW compared to a normal person ;-) but fast for me by about 2mph over my previous race - hey, its improvement that counts, right? I have a general idea based on my bike computer, but I'd love to see the actual number up there.

Other than the timing stuff I had SUCH fun, absolutely the best event (tri or run) that I have ever done. I loved all the attention to the little details. Small things like the sign at the last two miles of the bike course saying to "hammer it" or the signs at the end of the run. And all the volunteers (plus the police and photographers even) were so encouraging and friendly - lots of "you're doing great"'s out there. I think I smiled during this race more than I ever have - plus my time (even after adding 5min for the swim error) was a good 15 min. better than my last sprint...so it was a great day for me all around!

I hit you up before the race and after.  I saw you coming in from the run as I was starting out.  Let me rephrase that, I saw you flying in from the run.  You were hauling man!  I was like damn!  That's awesome.  I saw Stephen behind you on the run briefly.   I am just amazed at how you guys hold pace like that.  Great race everyone!

I really liked the layout of the post race this year, of course it was probably necessary with the increase in the number of participants.  The big covered area was very nice for everyone to relax under afterward as well.

I had a great race on the run with some of the guys from the 20-29 AG's, there were about 4 of us all within 20 sec's of each other.  Those are the situations that I look forward to when it comes time to racing.

I'm not quite competitive on the invite level yet but just out of curiosity, how do you get into that group? Was there a place to sign up for that when registering? It looks like I need to work on my run hang with those guys.

@ Justin, get fast!!! ......need to place overall once in awhile or win your age group consistently.  Also for oly, I know some recommend under 2:20. Sometimes they will state requirements or you can just enter invitational wave. 

@ Pedro, nice to meet you this weekend. I was unaware that people that I don't know look at my log. I will get back to your message shortly.

triritter, are you really from a town called "Gun Barrel City, TX"?  If so that has to be good for at least 2-3 mph on the bike right?

Yeah, do you know where Mabank is ? or have heard of Cedar Creek Lake? It is an hour south east of Dallas. 

Yeah I suppose you could get fast living out here. Me and some of the bubba's don't get along. I had a shouting match that  almost turned into a fist fight with a bubba a few weeks ago on a run. 

 

I'm not a Ritter fan, he needs to go about 21 seconds slower. Then I would be a bigger Ritter fan.
