Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:15 or so and started my breakfast and packed the truck.
Event warmup:

Talk to people and family. Tried to get a swim in but it was to late they called me back in.
Swim
  • 24m 59s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim at beginning wasn't to good. Got some stomach cramps but went away about 500 yards in. Started feeling good after that.
What would you do differently?:

Hrmmmm.... Lets see..... I would probably not do a 5 hour energy before.
Transition 1
  • 00m 43s
Comments:

Did pretty well this time......
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 05m 16s
  • 24 miles
  • 22.06 mile/hr
Comments:

Started feeling sick around 50 min in. Pushed through it, but overall it was a good bike leg for sure. I held back about 10% for the run. Low back was aching some toward the end.
What would you do differently?:

Not real sure..
Transition 2
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

Did pretty well here. To much to grab on the way out to the run. Number, armband, garmin watch to put on armband, hat.
What would you do differently?:

hrmmm... Some how lower the amount of stuff to bring.
Run
  • 57m 43s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

FAIL.... started off on a 7:30 pace feeling good then stomach cramps hit and felt like throwing up. Walked for half the race then at 4.8 miles it went away enough to run again. I picked the pace up and finished the race. Legs felt great, but just felt sick. I have not figured out why that happen. I did not feel hot or dehydrated. Just burping a lot and feeling like throwing up.
What would you do differently?:

I have got to figure out nutrition if I'm ever going to get good at this sport.
Post race

Event comments:

Good overall race... Course is fast for sure.

I think this is the first report I have read that has a 5 hour energy for a prerace fluid intake. Awesome swim and bike, both were pretty fast.
