New Brighton, Minnesota
United States
Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 26/347
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 5/35
Event warmup:

Setup transition, 2 mile warmup on the bike, put on wetsuit, few hundred yards warming up in the water with about 1 minute recover and off we went!
Swim
  • 13m 18s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Cluster at the beginning and sighting was not the best. Strong start, maybe just a bit too fast but I settled in about half way through.
What would you do differently?:

Start on the outside and take a wider angle, work on sighting, not have to push quite as hard initially or worry about burning out too early.
Transition 1
  • 01m 5s
Comments:

Wetsuit stuck on my left ankle and cost me a bit.
What would you do differently?:

Start working on flying mount!
Bike
  • 36m 47s
  • 14 miles
  • 22.84 mile/hr
Comments:

Good drinking, felt natural, wattage was not what it needed to be. I need to start getting used to pushing some higher numbers. HTFU!
What would you do differently?:

Be smarter when cornering, one corner was almost really bad! Need to learn to dig down and get the watts I want.
Transition 2
  • 00m 31s
Comments:

Forgot to tighten up the Zoots... actually felt really good the whole race, and ended with no blisters funny how that works.
What would you do differently?:

Figure out wearing watch, running into transition, and marking times, watch on left wrist and holding bike with right hand is hard to press button!
Run
  • 22m 11s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Did not have my legs under me from the start and raced way too conservatively. The run is the second area I need to HTFU and run. The end was strong, if only I could feel that pace the whole run. Time to start building some intervals at that fast comfortable pace
What would you do differently?:

Need my garmin! I didn't have pace to hold me accountable, and I was really worried about not being able to hold pace.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not holding up my wattage on the bike. Flats are where I need to toughen up. sub 200 is a no-no.

Event comments:

Better than the previous year.

Great job!  There was a lot of cornering and I am sure at that speed it's difficult to navigate on a busy course.
