Swim
Comments: Overall a good swim. I beat my time from last by 4 minutes. I still need to figure out where to place myself in the start. I am not fast enough to be in the front, but I put myself in the back this time and had several intances where I swam up on groups of guys and didn't want to swim around and waste a bunch of energy. Overall a decent swim for me. What would you do differently?: Need to figure out where to start. May need to just get in the middle somewhere. Transition 1
Comments: Everything here was ok. I could be a little faster. Bike
Comments: This went really well. I rode about has hard as I could. Had to pass a lot of people from the earlier waves and sometimes that made for riding three wide. Had one guy pass me with about 1 mile to go and he was from the last wave but he was riding a disk and aero wheel up front so that is my excuse. I still can't imagine getting my avg into the 23 with the top riders but maybe after another year of riding. What would you do differently?: Not much of anything Beat my time last year by two minutes Transition 2
Comments: Good Run
Comments: I had been thinking all week about how to approach this run. My run is always the limiting factor in my races. Kept reminding myself on the bike that when I get to the run to keep a shorter stride with a higher cadence and just run through the dead legs. I felt pretty good coming off the bike, my calfs where a little tight but that went away after about a mile. Didn't worry about fluids other than dumping some water on my head at each table. This was by far the best run I have had in a race. Usually my times come out to be around 9:15/mile or slower. Hopefully, I can carry this type of run or faster on to the next race. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Finally a good run/end to a race Post race
Warm down: Hung around and waited for the awards ceremony, wife relay team won 1st. The only disappointing thing to the day, I went and compared my time to the clydes division and I would have been 1st by two minutes. Oh well, I am really pleased by my time (beat last years by 10 minutes) and I'll take 11th in age group any day. Last updated: 2010-05-04 12:00 AM

Up at 4:30 and had a PB sandwich and a glass of water. Got to the site around 5:40 and setup everything and waited around. I usually race in the clydesdale division (currently ~215 lbs) but figured it would be interesting to race age group and see how I do, plus the 30-34 group is usually one of the first swim waves. So much for that idea we where the next to last group this time.
Should have race clydes!
Went for about a mile jog and swam a little before the pre-race activities. First time to actually run a little before a race and it seemed to help some. Talked to some BT members for the first time before the swim and it was good to put a face to some of the posters I read.
