Just got back from the Dr. office. Inflamed rotator cuff, strained while swim training for my first ever triathlon. Received prescription anti-inflammatories to get me through until my tri. Possible cortisone shot if it doesn't improve with strengthening exercises.

I'm happy that it's not torn and the shoulder looked structurally sound otherwise. It feels good to get a definitive answer to the pain.

Off to swim practice....

That stinks about the rotator cuff, I had impengment 2 years ago, the pain sucks. If the exercises don't help, get a USA swim coach to look at your stroke, there are ways to make sure you are keep your bones from pinching that muscle, I had to change my whole stroke to prevent myself from actually tearing it.

Good luck with the rehab!!!
Take care,

Make sure you warm down after your workouts too. I started to do that and my shoulders started to feel better.

I would suggest you ice before and after any activity with the shoulder. And, ice 3-4 times throughout the day for 20-30 minutes. Have someone check out your swim stroke. You may be coming over the top of your head instead of over your shoulder.
