Living at Courthouse, TeamZ will be your closest option.

I am a member of Team TPR.  We have about 90 members.  ~10% are potential Kona Qualifiers.

Team FeXy is the most competitive in the area.  2 of our members also belong to FeXy.

I just joined Team Z in April, and it's been pretty awesome. About 400 members total (all don't come to all rides/workouts, more like 20-80 at those), group workouts everyday, detailed training plans, coach support, awesome people, all levels welcome (Couch all the way to Kona).

Races with the team are a blast, and being on the team has totally revamped my tri training.

Feel free to PM me for more info!

x2 on looking for info.  Just got orders to DC.  Will be living in Fairfax.  Grew up there as a kid, but haven't been back since.  Will be there when this painful overseas tour in over in the fall.  Am sked for IMFL on Nov, so will need help making sure I keep up with my training to be ready for that first IM.
Thanks

I am also interested in this topic.  TeamZ is having an informational meeting tonight I am going to attend...if you have the time it might be a good chance to get information on a well known local tri team.

I lean pretty far towards the "psychticoverlycompetitivelongstocrushandbecrushed" side

I also joined Team Z in April and so far have been loving it. We have beginners and super competitive folks - all of them have been super nice and welcoming so far.

For those of you still looking, definitely attend informational sessions for different teams (or whatever that team has in way of the informational sessions) and decide what's best for you and your training style/type. Good luck!

Got a follow-up question for those of you who joined Team Z. I just moved to Loudoun County. Am I too far West for Team Z and FeXY to truly benefit from the club's activities / rides? Thanks.

Team FeXY has many members and activities in Loudoun County.. most group rides will visit our sponsor, Spokes, in Ashburn while heading west

I looked at a couple, but it looked like they were more coached groups. Are there any free groups that just get together for long runs/rides? I don't mind paying if its not much, but I'm not looking for coaching or anything like that at this time.

I'm more in the Lorton area if that helps.

Being out in Prince William County makes it hard to get involved with the clubs that are closer in.  Any options for those of us further out?

I feel you on this one. I'm down in Stafford and was looking for a club.

Stafford is in the middle area between two clubs. Just north in Montclair is Dominion Tri and Cycling Club or in Fredricksburg is TRI-Fred. I have several friends on the Dominion team.
