Total Time = 1h 21m 58s
Overall Rank = 4/63
Age Group = F40-44
Age Group Rank = 1/Master
Pre-race routine:

Arrive early and set up. Take my Gu Roctane 15 minutes before start.
Event warmup:

None, although I usually like to swim. I got caught up in watching my Sport Factory teammates start the Oly, and arrived at the sprint with everyone already in the coral ready to go! Oops!
Swim
  • 11m 29s
  • 600 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

14/63 overall women. Not bad for me. Not a great time, but it was a hot tub out there and I am very affected by warm water, always have been. My whole face starts to burn.

I was happy with my navigation. I chose to do the sprint because I haven't done a wave start or sprint in 8 years. I need the practice for Silverman.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m 54s
Comments:

Good transition, can't say I would do anything faster except run to my bike more briskly. It is a sprint afterall!
What would you do differently?:

See comments above.
Bike
  • 45m 38s
  • 15.49 miles
  • 20.37 mile/hr
Comments:

This was not good. I need to talk with the coach. Hell, I did my first tri at a faster average on a 29 mile course in pouring ran on a friggin' 1980 schwinn with a kickstand with no biking experience whatsoever (11 years ago!). WTF? This was not my best, but I still loved the course and had a wonderful time out there. I love to ride!
What would you do differently?:

Train more on hills - talk with coach about this! Ugh - this bike time ticks me off but I still had FUN. Lovely, pretty course on SMOOTH roads.
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

Smooth until I realized my Garmin was still attached to my bike... cost me about 10 - 15 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

REMEMBER TO TAKE THE GARMIN OFF THE BIKE! Hello!
Run
  • 22m 43s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

This was good. I am getting my run speed back after years of health problems (serious thyroid problem) and no speedwork whatsoever for years. 10 seconds faster than my open 5k 2 months ago. I am guessing my open 5k is about 1 minute faster than this now.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Felt awesome. I love running in the heat and humidity, it's always been a strength.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around and cheer on the Olympic SF teammates.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Train more on hills. Ride repeats up and down Kennesaw.(?) Talk with coach about her recommendations.

Event comments:

Considering I just started training for tri's again just 3 months ago and was only 1 minute from the podium, I'll take it.

I'm on the hunt now, I am going to smash my next race to get on that podium. No regrets... leave nothing behind.

My coach really is great and has me on the right track.

Great race..the conditions were hard on everyone.  I would not worry about the bike.  It will come around.  You ran strong in the nasty heat which says more about your form.  Look forward to reading the next RR!

Your race splits were all awesome, particularly given the conditions.  Good job.
