I thought this way when I got into the pool for swim class on Monday night after spending an hour in the afternoon with the trainer. I cramped up everything.

Before the race I am a bundle of anxiety heaped on top of a case of nerves.

My last race I wondered why I was doing it...especially on the 4th lap in the pool listening to my 14 yr old screaming encouragement to me...when I went outside into 38 degrees...when I tried to run and the legs wouldn't go and the back feeling like I had a knife stabbing me.

Mile 90 on the IM bike was tough for me... still another 22 miles to go but had already been on the bike for a few hours.

^^^^Right there, in training and in the race, this is where I have to fight the demons.

Let's not forget while swimming 4-5000 yards in a 25 yd pool.  Booooring.

During the race....about 5-10 mins into the run. That always seems to be the point where I reach the toughest physical and mental hurdle.

I also always ask myself that the night before.

Starting about a week before the race, right up until I cross the finish line.

When i went on my longest bike ride yet today, and it was also the hilliest and most windy bike ride i had ever gone on. I think i asked myself that about 500 times. Also during my whole first tri up until the finish. Quite a few things went wrong though on it so that didnt help.
