Swim
  • 05m 11s
  • 200 meters
  • 02m 35s / 100 meters
Comments:

Paced myself pretty well took it easy seeing it was my first tri. Made full 200 meters without stoping. The pool and swim area was very very warm. Water was 93 degrees. too hot hard to breath even when out of the water.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Other then more practice. Didn't hold form as well as I wanted and had a few times where breathing got away from me. But Very pleased with my my first performance
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Took too much time getting on my heart rate monitor, shoes, socks and my shirt... I know I was slow at this.. but still pleased for my first time, trying to catch my breath from the swim.
What would you do differently?:

think it over if I need socks and a few things.
Bike
  • 27m 55s
  • 10 kms
  • 21.49 km/hr
Comments:

Drank too much right off the bat on the ride and almost threw it up. Pushed pretty hard but my heart rate didn't show signs of pushing hard. First lap had a hard time catching my breath. Second lap I got caught up in the corners with slower riders I was unable to pass.
What would you do differently?:

Need more hill work. Mostly flat at home and I lost the most time on the hill. Need to hydrate more with small amounts.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

busy transition again. Need to learn to not have so much going on.
What would you do differently?:

Re think everything I need. and watch how much time I am taking in the transition.
Run
  • 17m 36s
  • 2 kms
  • 08m 48s  min/km
Comments:

Lost it on the Run. This destroyed my timing completely. My heart rate spiked to 218 BPM and I had to walk almost one whole lap to get it back down. Killed my time completely.
What would you do differently?:

Watch my pace. I started out way too fast... tried to back it down but kept picking up my pace. It was 89 degrees out when we took to the run course, direct sun the whole way. Humidex was 101 degrees. Needed to hydrate more before the run and really control my pace.
Post race
Warm down:

walked it off... got a bottle of water got into the shade, ate a banana and some orange slices.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat and my inability to pace my run at the start. The rest of the race I was very pleased at.

Event comments:

Great First race. Well orginized. Fun event. Would do it again. With the heat today the one drink station on the run was not enough in my mind. But I struggled really bad with this... so maybe it was just me. My wife's Boss was the originator of this event when it started like 12 years ago in his back yard. It was very cool to have this as my first event. I owe a lot to a friend and somewhat mentor I have been riding and swimming with... Thanks Stef....

Nice race!  You can always wear your HRM during the swim so you don't have to fuss with it during T1.
