Swim
Comments: Best swim ever! This was great. I was very comfortable. There was a lot of contact but I quite enjoyed it. I hit tons of people (unintentionally), but you just have to keep going. I got cut off and hit myself, but I literally just pushed people away or protected my head with my arms. Didn't really have a lot of open water, but it was so fun. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: Took a bit of time to get my socks on, and put on biking shorts over tri shorts... maybe the biking shorts aren't needed in a half... oh well, I wanted to be comfortable. Bike
Comments: Bike felt good, but in retrospect, I should have pushed more. I thought I was pushing though! I was surprised that I wasn't faster... I geared better than I have in the past, spent a lot of time in aero, hit my nutrition plan, and tried to push. But was 15 min slower than last time! Argh. :( I can blame some of it on that hill, but not all 15 min. Did get totally cut off by a tractor going into that farming section... was kind of funny as the marshalling guy kept trying to stop him and the tractor dude completely ignored him. Yeah, that's why I was 15 min slower, it was the tractor's fault! lol... right... What would you do differently?: PUSH MORE! Transition 2
Comments: For some reason I am always good at this transition... Run
Comments: Came off the bike feeling OK. Legs were heavy for the first 3k or so, but just kept moving and knew they would loosen up. Almost bit it when I caught my foot on the ground, but I used some poor guy in front of me to stop my fall, and luckily he kept me from falling. I apologized profusely and he was very nice and said no problem. That would of hurt!!! Pretty much the rest of the run sucked from that point. Around 5k I took a gu as I felt I was fading... didn't make a difference. 7k stopped for a pee (yeah for hydration on the bike... at least I did that right), and took another gu. Still felt like crap. Started to walk here and there now. I got back to the beach and really didn't know how I was going to keep going. Started taking 2 cups of gatorade at every aide station to get some energy. Walk, run, walk, run. Argh. Took another gu at 15k and almost puked just smelling it. Got to about 18k and just thought run it in... no more stopping. Mike and Carter were waiting for me at that little bridge just before you are coming in and ran the rest in with me. I am very disappointed in this run... I felt more ready than this. :( What would you do differently?: I have to work on my nutrition plan on the bike. I followed the one I had, but I completely ran out of steam on my run. Do not think it's my training as that has been so consistent... Post race
Warm down: Had a bit to eat and then just left. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nutrition on the bike did not properly set me up for a good run. Last updated: 2009-11-04 12:00 AM

Up at 430. Had a bagel and banana. Got to transition just after 530 for body marking and getting my race chip. Set up my transition area.
Took a lot of time getting my wetsuit on properly. Went into the water 15 min early to get in a good warmup in the water. Had a gu with about 10 min to go for swim.
