I am thinking about doing this one in 2011.  I would love some info about the closest place to stay near the start line, the bike course and run course.  The more info you can give me the better.  If you can compare it with the New balance Race Course even better. Help make my decision even easier

There is a campground at the swim start. They also have little hotel rooms that you can get that are 20 feet from the water. It's called lakeside resort. http://www.lakeside.bc.ca//>
I have stayed there and was told that it was the start of the race. Havent done the race. I am doing it for 2011 as well

Yes, the Lakeside is your best (and closest) choice.

The Oliver 1/2 is an awesome race. The weather is quite unpredictable though. Race day can be scorching hot or pouring rain. Ya never know.

A one loop swim, 2 1/4 loop bike and a two loop run.

Swim is a beach start done in waves so you'll be swimming in groups of ~200/300. It's fairly spread out so there's lots of room to position yourself.

Bike course is relatively flat with one short hill (1/3km, 7%) that you'll have to do twice. Most times there is a wind so you'll be fighting it one direction or the other.

The run also is quite flat with a small hill (1/4km, 2%) Half of the course is along the river channel and the rest through residential areas.

The race is very well organized and highly rated by those who have participated.
Come on down and join the fun!
