Overall Rank = 251/355

Age Group Rank = 48/59
Pre-race routine:

Arrived a day early. Set up T1 on Friday and relaxed with friends. Enjoyed the pre-race carnival atmosphere. Great time
Swim
  • 44m 24s
  • 2112 yards
  • 02m 06s / 100 yards
Comments:

Wore tripple cap because of the cold. Spent more time in the water to make sure I didn't get a jolt.
Transition 1
  • 03m 42s
Comments:

Transition requires bagging the T1 stuff which takes some time. Also, it is a pretty long transition area.
What would you do differently?:

Not wear gloves on bike and roll socks.
Bike
  • 3h 25m 20s
  • 58 miles
  • 16.95 mile/hr
Comments:

Really great bike course because it is so pretty and it really feels great to fly after all the climbing. The first major hill (aprox mile 21) was harder this time than the second.
What would you do differently?:

I change to a compact crank which really helped me not feel as beat on the climb but I may change the rear to a 12-27 next year. I really need to work out my eating on the bike. Didn't really get things together so I felt kind of off.
Transition 2
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

Had a good transition while focusing on keeping my heart rate in check for the hills I knew were coming.
What would you do differently?:

Don't take any energy prodcuts on the run. They aren't necessary since there are so many aid stations. It just wasted time and created more hassel.
Run
  • 2h 21m 13s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

I enjoyed the run but fell apart at mile 11. I stoped for a potty break and then started to get dizzy so finished with a walk/run. Really disapointed in not running everything but the aid stations. I felt great about running through the first tough part with no cramps.
What would you do differently?:

Need to get more prepared on bike and figure out energy so run is better. May switch socks going into the run to keep from blisters.
Post race
Warm down:

Food, friends, and hydration.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nutrition was off and not enough time on the bike

Event comments:

I really love the weekend and the people at this event. Volunteers are excellent and the competitors are friendly and fun. The course is tough but so beautiful. I feel so lucky to be able to do this and walk the next day and have all the great memories.

Course: Long, hot well supported course but pretty lonley as far as cheering. Running on bike trails. Don't buy into the flat and fast description because it does quite a bit of slow climbing, especially for the first several miles.
