Comments:

This was a 5K run since the event was turned into a duathlon.
It was a hot day so I took the first 5K pretty slow. I held an 8min mile pace. My GPS had the distance at 3.2 so I was a little slower than my planned 8' pace.
Transition 1
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

I was a little slower than normal in transitions. I had a pretty bad bike spot since I arrived late, plus I was getting blocked by tons of people.
Bike
  • 1h 18m 43s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.94 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt ok. I climbed the hills with a high cadence spin. I really pushed it on the downhills and flats.
What would you do differently?:

Probably push it a little more on the climbs.
Transition 2
  • 02m 45s
Comments:

I forgot to pull my feet out of my shoes before I got to the dismount line so I was forced to unclip (mental error). I ended up running in my bike shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Ride with feet on top of shoes going into T2.
Get a better bike position - especially in large races.
Run
  • 56m 48s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

Very hot and humid. Lots of walkers. I walked for about 2mins.

Got blisters on my feet since I didn't bring socks. I typically don't use socks for anything 10k or under. Since this was a duathlon, I guess the extra running caused my blisters.
What would you do differently?:

bring socks to every OLY race going forward just in case it turns into a duathlon.

I probably went out a little too fast with the heat. I slowed considerably the last few miles.
Post race
Warm down:

I had a hard time cooling down but the event organizers were great with distributing towels soaked in ice, as well as bags of ice. Drank plenty of water and sat under a tree for awhile.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

heat

Event comments:

Philly Tri is always a fun event.
