I just did my first Sprint Tri this past weekend but I've been married to a hard core runner/triathlete for 6 years. She's done 12 or 15 marathons, a full iron man, 5 or six HIM,s multiple sprints, OLY's and half mary's. We don't train together for two reasons. 1. She would drop me before we left our driveway on the bike and run. She places in her age group in almost every race she enters. 2. we have a 4 month old daughter so we have to tag team coverage to let each other train. Maybe one day when the kid gets older and I get faster we can do some rides and runs together, but alas, that day is not today. |

Most people would ride a tandem, but two on one tri bike? My hat is off to you. Well if Ace and Gary can figure out how to fly together, I can see how a couple could ride and even stay aero.

He bounces between the contemplation and action stages of the transtheoretical model at the moment. I hope to get him to train with me regularly! She has just recently started trail running with me... our "together pace" is slower than my "alone pace" - but, I wouldn't trade the time spent running together for anything! I was incredibly proud of her last year though when she walked the Outer Banks Half Marathon in a fraction over three hours. We ran 6-12 miles 7 of 8 days we were there, and got in some serious swims. The wife has yet to do her first tri. We are working on her biking skills. She kills me on runs and swimming. I am relearning to run following two knee surgeries so my run training consists of a lot of walking. My daughter and hubby like to come with me and also the dog. It makes for a slower walk sometimes, but being out with my family is awesome. I'll post a pic sometime soon. |
