jmk-brooklyn - 2010-07-09 11:23 AM I agree. I think (although I’m admittedly biased) that it would have been different if he had either stayed in Cleveland or gone to NYC. To go through all this rigmarole and nonsense so that he could basically say, Dah-dah-dah!…(drumroll….) “I’m going to go move to South Beach and play with my best friend in a much less pressure-filled environment!” was kind of silly. If he had announced that he was staying with his hometown team or going to the biggest stage in the NBA to resurrect the Knicks, that would have had more impact than basically announcing that he’s going to roll his Bentley down Ocean Drive and pick up cocktail waitresses. Now, having said that, I don’t blame him at all for going to Miami. The pressure of trying to win in either Cleveland NYC would have been stifling. If he had come to NYC, he’d have about two years to win a championship before the media started calling him overrated and the fans started booing him every time he missed a jumper.

But now the pressure to win in Miami isn't even more?  If the Heat don't win a championship this year, it will be looked at as failure. I just find it interesting that the guy who has "CHOSEN1" tatooed across his back decides that he is going to team up with not just one, but 2 superstars to try to get the job done... doesn't sound very "chosen" to me.. maybe hs should have gotten "COOPERATIVE1" instead..

AND the fact that now he doesn't have to wait for 2 years to get booed pretty much everywhere but South Beach...

Good day to be heat fan.   Heck, bring Shaq back for anniversary tour @ this point.

Don't laugh.  I actually heard that is a possibility.

They should now make a reality show of all the aging veterans that now have "the decision" to make if they want to sign with Miami for the league minimum in order to try and win a championship.

Anybody have any idea of who's still available?

I heard some people mention Felton...but I seriously doubt that as he's a player that has not made his fortune yet...and should be looking to set his family up financially before chasing championships.

BamaDC - 2010-07-08 10:25 PM I say he'll win 2 or 3 championships in Miami and then return to Cleveland.

there is absolutely no way this will ever happen. because 1)he's dead to cleveland, and 2) the bulls only had one jack haley, and the lakers only had one mark madsen; the heat will have 9.

I take the Cleveland part back.  I posted that before, I knew about all the stuff Gilbert had said.

Lakers free agent point guard Derek Fisher has a meeting scheduled with Miami Heat president Pat Riley on Saturday, according to a source close to the situation.

Fisher is a good fit if he's willing to take the minimum.  It would say a lot about Fisher if he did...being that he hasn't exactly made too much money (I know I know...) in the NBA.

They are also set to sign Haslem and Mike Miller.  So that fills some holes.  They still need a couple of big men to help bosh.  Especially going up against Dwight Howard...you need 3 guys that can play center and eat up fouls.

I think the key for this whole team is Mario Chalmers.  He showed a lot of promise last year and needs to be that role player that steps up.  Sort of like Rondo for Boston.

I heard that CP3 is now "agressively demanding to be traded" before the start of the season!

Miami should trade Chalmers, Mike Miller, and Haslem for Paul.  That way they can have 4 stars and nobody to back them up.

actually not without them moving contracts.  they have spent eveything they had.. plus I don't see NO moving him since he is not a free agent, the new GM is from San Antonio and has seen how to build a team so it they move him they will demand someone take Okafor's huge contact also while getting back at least two decent players

unless he goes to Dallas,, then it's ok
