Subject: Race Results--Am I being ridiculous?
On Sunday, June 27th I participated in a small triathlon in a small community here in Alaska.  I believe there were only 80 or so participants. Maybe the 52 degree temps, rain, and 61 degree water temps had something to do with it. Laughing

Anyway, I felt like I did really well in the race and am very interested in not only my times, but also where I placed.  Still no results posted on the race website.  What?!?!?  Not only that, I sent an email on Wednesday, and still haven't received a response.

Am I being ridiculous? this was a USAT sanctioned event. Should I send an email to them to let them know about the lack of communication?

For me no race is complete until I have pored over the results for hours, so no I personally do not think you are being ridiculous.  Do you know who did the timing?  Can you contact them?  Good luck!

I would contact the RD.   In this day and age, it's not ridiculous to expect  the results.  I think that's part of what you pay for.

That said, I raced in May and the results were screwed up for everyone after T1.   Despite getting 1 (or more) calls and e-mails from a lot of the racers, the original results stand.   I didn't take my own splits because I was relying on the results - silly me.

I don't think you are being ridiculous.  The longest I have waited for race results is 2-3 days.  In fact, it is pretty common for preliminary results to be posted at the event itself.  Sounds like they are just being slooooowww.

If it was manually timed it might take the RD some time to get it all together.

In my experience, once a race is over, many race directors bascially ignore emails, especially as they relate to results, since they are contracted out to a third party.  Even in Los Angeles, I've had to wait over a week for results.

I can understand the frustration though, as said above, one of my traditions is to pore over results   Although usually there are race day results physically posted at the race site so you can see where you generally placed (subject to correction)

I am sure they'll come though, be patient.

I just reread the details and I wouldn't be worried yet.  Give them a few weeks.  You might be able to actually call the RD.   I know, so old school.

Also, have you checked onlineraceresults.com?

Sometimes if there is a problem then it takes some time to post results. I organize a 5k and we had 4-5 people leave old timing chips on their shoes which threw off all the results (including the overall 'chip-time' winner).  It required a lot of sorting through (about a week) to get everything right.  And, sometimes it's not the race organizer but the timing company that is causing the delay.  That being said, the race should have posted something on the web site or sent out an e-mail letting people know that they were working on the results and apologize for the delay.

If there is a phone number try calling but good luck getting anyone before a holiday weekend.

If it was a really small race they might only post the results at the event.  Are there results posted from other years?

Were timing chips used?  If they were, then the results should be up the next day...unless there was a problem.

That being said...results are not always going to be posted on the race website.  Sometimes races contract out their timing systems to third parties, and the third party has their own website that posts the results.  Sort of like how race day pictures are done by third parties...and are not posted on the race website.

My first 2 races did that.  The races didn't have their own dedicated websites...so it couldn't direct you to where the results were.  But after emailing the RD a few days later, I found out that the results were actually available online 2 hours after each race was done.

For Breath of Life, the chip company's website had the results up long before the race site.

I appreciate everyone's responses.  There were no timing chips used during this race.  I had a sneaking suspicion that this could turn out to be a problem.  I understand that things could be out of their control, but for only 80 or so participants?

I think it would be helpful if they put something up on their website or answered my email at the very least.

I just figured I would no something by now.  Now with the holiday weekend, I doubt I will know for at least 4 days.  Boo.

Results are an expectation in ANY race... I did a 5k race when I was up in Utah, and when I crossed the finish line, someone yelled out a time - I didn't hear that person, so I never got my time - I asked about it after the race and I was told that they only recorded the 1st 3 that crossed the finish line... WTF?  At least my money went to a good charity...   I would have LOVED to have my time as I think I PR'd that race.
