For an inaugural event i think it was well done.  the swim start was kind of sloppy looked like people started all over the place.

Lot's of turns on the bike which slowed down my avg mph.  but overall enjoyed the race and will likely do it next year.  Not sure of his name, but the guy who won overall also won GSB.

and the water was warm and murky, I couldn't see my hands in front of my face.

Congrats to everyone. Hope everyone reached their goals.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any of you guys. Things were a little hectic. Hopefully next race. Anyone racing in Schiff Scout?

For a inaugural race. I thought things went pretty smoothly.  Beautiful day really made the event that much better.

I am currently debating if I should upgrade my bike. I currently ride a Cannondale Caad 9 with aero bars that I but on.  I feel that I can make up a lot of time on the Bike portion with an actually tri bike.

What are some thoughts. I know there are so many factors involved. but I always like some support. ha

not a bad race at all for the first year. the bike course was little tight but I feel it was well staffed. sorry I couldn't meet anyone, i got to the race later than i would have liked and had to rush to get set up and put in a short warm up.

congratulations to everyone who participated yesterday!

Congrats to all of you....i too arrived later than anticipated and had to leave shortly after my finish as my little one (5 years old) was understandably tired and cranky.  I promised her I'd work on keeping my time down in the future!  Nothing like putting your finisher's medal around your kid's neck.

For my second Tri, I was very happy.  I shaved 10 minutes off of my first race, which was 2 weeks ago up in Vermont (it was a 1/2 mile swim, so the actual spread was lower, but i like the round # of 10 minutes!).  Learning alot and need to really focus on swim technique and breathing.  I am a terrible swimmer.  I'm sure it will get better as i am completely hooked.  I am spending way too much time in transition as well.

I dont have much to compare to, but I think anytime you hold an event for the first time, there can be some glitches, and i didnt really notice any.  The one thing i am holding out for is a giant beer truck near the finish line.  0 for 2 on that note.

Congrats again to all of you.  My next race is Mighty Man Montauk Sprint on 10/2.  Should give me plenty of time to work on my swimming.  Hope to see some of you there.

Any else feel the swim course was a bit short ? I don’t think it was 500 meters.  I’m thinking around 350.

Hey, was your wife there with your little one still in pajamas and no shoes, if so, my wife was talking to her for awhile during the race. I tried to get my 4 yr old out of bed at 5 a.m. but she wanted no part of it.. lol Thought it was a good race and i had my best time to date.

Race location was great. What a beautiful way to start your day.

The bike course was a little tight but other wise the race performed pretty well.

It may have been but my sighting was so bad that I'm sure I swam the full 500.

@Luby162...yes that was my wife and kid...too funny...  Good thing i didnt forget mine!

I thought the swim course was plenty long enough...but i too think it was less than 500 meters and i too probably made it about 550 with my poor sighting and awkward technique.  I just got an email that the race photos are up on islandphoto.com if anyone is interested.

All you have to do is take one end of the rubber band and tie it to the back of your shoe and the other around your skewer.  The other shoe can hang.

In all honestly, let your shoes hang.  I had rubber bands get caught in my rear derailer more than once.

Hey everyone, since this race is just under a month away, I figured I'd move the thread forward to see if anyone had anything to share.

Good luck to everyone participating!
