Old fat guy set for Sunday... starting in the third wave with the chicks behind. At least the view will be nice when i get chicked for the millionth time in a race.

Last race till the 70 Half Full Tri in Columbia, MD in October.

Hope the weather and heat aren't to bad this weekend. Suppose to have 60% chance of precipitation on sat and 20% on sunday with I guess temps around 85ish when the run starts.

Good luck everyone.

#118 here.

On a side note, a la rant, c'mon SetUp Events! These race shirts are, for lack of better words, CRAP!
It's some 3rd rate, no brand-generic bulk mesh type material not even worthy of a car rag, as it's too rough for the paint! And the graphic is horrible!! What the heck happened? Granted I know there's a balance b/t cost of a race and a cost for racing, but seriously these shirts are really really weak. I think this and the lack of support for spectators will be a deciding factor in choosing my next racing events.</rant>

I match your rant, and raise you one biatch. The Kure Beach shirt was hidious grey color. Design/logo was cool, but the color and crap material made it go right into my give away pile.

Here's a suggestion for Setup: Give me the option to save money and skip the shirt! Or, at least give me a nice shirt. plain old cotton is better than crap mesh.

Haven't picked up my number yet.  Guess I'll see the shirt tomorrow morning.

A few weeks ago at the nOg Run Club it was bring your most hideous race shirt night.  Wonder if we'll many of tomorrow's shirts at next years shirt event.

Looks like everyone here will be finished and drinking beer before I even get near the finish line.  I am in the 12th wave with the other over-the-hill rookies.  Look for me wearing a neon yellow Brooks running singlet.

Post race at 1:00 the Carolina Brewing Company has a free tour and plenty of free beer at their brewery in Holly Springs.

Here is the link for more directions.  It's close to the race.

The cartwheel was pretty impressive.  She did the triathlon on both days, too.  I am still recovering from Saturday.

I saw in the results that there were quite a few penalties, most for race numbers, but even one for unsportsmanlike conduct.  One person was disqualified for a chin strap violation.

btw... I like the shirts that were given out.  It's a tech fabric, not white, and the design is kinda artsy.

I got a 2:00 drafting penalty! The damn motorcycle followed me for 2 miles. I passed one bike and was never passed. This was between the park exit and Friendship Rd. I did NOT draft! If anything I was blocked at one point. I am P*SS*D! I would have broken my last years time without the penalty. I am still in a foul mood.

That sucks Doug. I know it's not the same but if you know you didn't draft and didn't deserve that penalty, then I would ignore it and say you broke last years time, even if officially you didn't. And now channel that anger into your next race :-)

Where have I been?! I didn't even realize Triangle was this weekend until I saw FB last night.

Can you get a drafting penalty and the other person get a blocking penalty at the same time? So if someone is blocking are we just screwed and have to back out of the drafting zone, get a drafting penalty, or get DQed by crossing the center line?

Maybe the course marshall had a grudge against Doug. Did you accidentally hit the guy on the motorcycle with a snot rocket? Wink
