Who's doing this as an A race?  Who's doing it as a B race?  I'm doing Top Gun in 2 weeks so this is the first time I've had races that close together.  If I use this race as a training race, how hard do I push it?  Is it even possible to not give 100% on race day?

'B' race fro me.  My 'A' race is the Sharks Siesta Key race in October.  I'll go as hard as I can, knowing that my fitness isn't where I want it to be yet.

Anyone want to split a hotel room Friday night?  I signed up for the dinner and don't want to make the drive there and back twice.

I'll be there as well. Laughing

This is definitely a "B" race for me.  Borderline "C" race, really.  I'm prepping for a late season HIM and this race was thrown into the schedule for a bit of summertime fun!

As far as race intensity for a non-priority race goes, my feeling is this:  I race 100% at every race.  The only difference between an 'A' race, 'B' race or 'C' race is where the race falls in terms of "peaking" AND the quality/length of the taper.  For example, I am going into the race this weekend without a taper (as I type this my legs are throbbing from some super hard bike intervals today), but I will race this race as hard as my non-tapered body allows.

Good luck out there!  It should be a nice local event.  The race director's communication has really been top-notch so far!

I will see you there just kicked off my Ironman training and this is a fun race for me. One of the guys asked me to do it so why not support the local race. I agree the Director communication has been top notch. Hope everybody has a good time. Sold out race this will be a good turn out for Englewood.

Hi Matt! Haven't bumped into you at the pool for a while-- didn't know you were racing as well.   We're looking forward to seeing you there!  Looks like you started your build towards Coz.  Hope it's going well!  Talk to you on Saturday.

Can someone post the time(s) of packet pick-up, the pasta dinner, and wave start times?  I haven't received any emails about this race.

Sure thing!

Verbatim from an e-mail:

Pre-race Packet Pick-up and Pasta Dinner on Friday, July 16th, from 4 to 5:45pm, at Farlow’s On The Water, 2080 S. McCall Road, in Englewood for all pre-registered athletes and their guests! This is a great opportunity to check in with USAT (remember to bring photo ID and your current USAT membership card, or $10 cash or check for a one-day membership), collect your race items to prepare for the next morning, and carb load on pasta, salad, and garlic bread! Athletes eat free and guests may purchase a meal for $10. RSVP’s are required in advance for the meal-just reply to this email if you haven’t already made your reservation. If you are unable to come on Friday, we will be distributing packets on Saturday at the venue beginning at 6am as well.

The Wave Schedule for the morning is:

1st-Blue caps-Males under 40 (7:30am sharp!)

2nd-Red caps-Males 40 and over

3rd-Purple caps-Females under 40

4th-White caps-Females 40 and over and all Relay Team swimmers

The time between each wave will be determined by the size of the wave and the water conditions.

Hope this helps!!

Did this race as my 1st ever Tri.

Loved the event! Terri and the YMCA crew did a TOP notch job guiding a newbie like me!
