Sunny
Total Time = 1h 06m 36s
Overall Rank = 13/190
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 2/12
Pre-race routine:

got up at 3:50 at breakfast and headed to Matt's house for the ride to Muncie
Event warmup:

Since all my friends were doing the Long course I talked and cheered them on as they finished the water. Then went down to the water and swam 200 yards
Swim
  • 08m 52s
  • 450 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

Got into the second row of people, it was a big wave with over 100 people. Swam hard and strong felt good and relaxed. When I got to the beach my watch read 7:38 and I was suprised, even in my warm ups in the pool I'm around 6:40 and I was swimming hard. This course had to be a little long. Overall it was a good swim and I had very little contact, stayed relaxed and sighted well.
What would you do differently?:

not much it was a good swim for me.
Transition 1
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

ran fairly hard up the hill and really had a good T1 was in and out quick. It probably took :40-:55 just to run to the bike and run the bike out
What would you do differently?:

nothing it was a good transition
Bike
  • 33m 39s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 22.29 mile/hr
Comments:

great bike ride for me, was never passed, and road hard the whole way. Never felt over the edge and road about 90-95% most of the time.
What would you do differently?:

nothing about the best I could ride without wasting myself for the run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

good transition entered running off the bike at about 10mph. I thought this would be a little faster, but I did have some problems with my shoe tongue rolling down.
What would you do differently?:

keeping working on this I lost 1st in my age group by :31 and he beat me by :43 in the combine transitions.
Run
  • 21m 28s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Wanted to average under 7 minute miles, I knew the course had some hills, so this was going to be tough. Ran strong and past around 5 people and was passed by 1 young kid. Ended up averaging under 7 min. miles and was happy with the run.
What would you do differently?:

not much just keep working on my run I really need to get this down to 6:30 miles to crack the top 5
Post race
Warm down:

ran around and watched all my friends

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing, I had a good race not much more I could have done today

Event comments:

I really like the race, conditions were good, I performed well, just missed the top 10 and 1st in my age group by :31 all in transition. It was kind of tough watching the long course, but I'm working more on speed and will really hit that distance hard next year.
