  • 875 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

swam really well. the start was really congested and i was in the 2nd row so when the gun went off i walked forward i few steps and then dove over the first row and broke free in the first 50m. sighting was really bad with the sun so i got behind 2 guys and just followed them. lucky for me they were right on target for the buoys. we were almost on top of the first turn buoy before we could see it. i did a great job thru out riding one guy's feet and conserving energy. near the end i moved around him and we exited the water next to each other. swim felt really good thru out.
What would you do differently?:

Comments:

tried to bike hard but legs were in really bad shape from building a swing set all weekend. my hammys were so sore from bending over all saturday i had a hard time turning the pedals. tried my best to hang with paul after he caught me on the bike but lost some time near the end.
What would you do differently?:

not build a playscape the day before a race
Transition 2

Comments:

socks cost me a few seconds and then initially went the wrong way.
Run
  • 19m 43s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

right out of T2 try to pour some water on me with cool off but instead dumped a big cup of gatorade on myself. yeah, it was nasty. i couldnt wait to get to the next aid station to rinse off. i struggle at the beginning with my legs b/c they were really sore. i was 3rd out of t2 and didnt think i would catch the over guys b/c they were a min or more up on me. i started to feel better near mile 1 but the ground were so uneven and muddy in certain spots i was doing my best to not fall or or roll an ankle. i caught the 2nd place guy at mile 2 and then floored it as best i could b/c another guy was gain on me. near the end you climg a long hill that almost caused me to bonk. i was almost walking up it but regain my composure with a few hundred meters left to finish 2nd in my group.
What would you do differently?:

needed more calories
Post race
Warm down:

stretching with advanced rehab, food/beer, and then lots of work to clean up with the J&A crew.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

the playscape building really killed my legs
