I'll be there.  This is my first oly- scared!  I was really sick last week.  I'm fully recovered, but haven't worked out at all in 10 days- which feels really odd since I haven't missed a workout in 4 months.  I am number 340.  I'm a short girl with tattoos on my arm and leg.  I ride a Specialized Amira.  Hope to say hi to some other BTers.

rpm1418 - 2010-07-30 4:20 PM I think I'm going to suggest they put your 400 time down, I put above average swimmer and I'm starting 221st.  The guy starting right behind me did it last year and swam 32+ min., I should swim this in about 26-28, I'm not sure what they are thinking when they lie.  I average about 1:35-1:40 per 100 for that distance, but don't consider that swimming like a fish.

Yeah - I think that's the problem.  People don't lie about their swim skills they just have no frame of reference for what "average" is.  I'm guessing most folks figure , "Hey, I can cover the distance.  I'm not fast so I must be average."  Coming from a swim background (oh so many years ago), I know that I'm slow but I also know in triathlon world that turns out to be average.

Either way - I'm sure I'll be doing some heads up swimming because I have a feeling I'm going to have to pass a lot of "average" swimmers!

start time @ 7:52:28
don't remember what I put down for my swim time.. looking over my logs I average between 2:45-3:30 /100m
it'll be a long swim..
my only other thought is if they start the sprint swimmers at 8:30, and some of us are still in the water for our event, won't that make things just that much more fun/crowded?

I finished, which was my goal and I think I did it at around 3 1/2 hours.
Exhausted- really pushed my limits (I'm an average Back Of Packer for Sprints)

Anyone else feeling feverish?

I finished in 1:19 for the sprint, my first.  The swim was not what I was shooting for but it was my first OWS so what can I expect.  Great first experience for me. I am more tired than running a half mary, had to take a power nap afterwards.

Also beat my 3hr goal (2:52), but I had almost a perfect day (except for unusual bad leg cramps @ T1 which were completely gone 2mi into the bike).

Saw batlou just before swim start, but don't know how he finished.

Swim sure seemed cooler than the 75F temp posted at the start.  And I think I rattled a few dental fillings loose on that bike course   I counted at least 10 riders with flats.  Hope roads are better next year back on the normal route.

BTW- I heard one of the riders got hit by a car. Anyone hear how they're going???

Made my goal of 2:20, made a big mistake running without socks for the 1st time in my racing shoes, major cuts on both archs really slowed my run down.  I thought the race was awesome I really like the the swim start, it didn't matter if slower swimmer were in front of you there was plenty of space to pass.  Congrats to all for reaching there goals.

Nice job everyone! I ended up 3rd overall in the Duathlon. Who else would like to see a much different bike course!? Very rough! I love the whole concept of this race but they've got to find something better with that bike course!

if i had any fillings they would have fallen out! the bike course absolutely sucks! did you see the guy that got hit? i heard the tires screaching from the car about a mile away a metro police car passed me then i got up to the burger king where he got hit and it wasnt a pretty sight. the poor guy was effed up. blood all over him and his bike was in pieces. i hope he is alright!

on a side note did any of you guys run the benton harbor michigan HIM on saturday? i was talking to a guy that did the half on saturday while standing in line to get in the water. that dude is an animal! he is also a clyde!

2:34 for me so I was very pleased with my effort.  Cramped up on the 1st loop of the run but things seemed to work themselves out.  I saw the guy who got hit just as they loaded him up into the ambulance.  A article on the front page of INDYSTAR.com states that he has a broken clavicle and lost some teeth.  Bad situation.  Lafayette road was horrible.  I stopped once because I was convinced I had a flat.  When I got off, I didn't - Just realized the road was that bad.  Even as bad as that portion of the road course was, this will be the highlight of my summer tri's!  Also - nice touch with the finisher medals - very nice!  I didn't start feeling sore until about hour 3 of my 5 hour car drive back home to West Michigan.

Tri Indy has to continue to grow and become a mini-chicago!!!
Congrats to everyone.

I did the sprint and did 1:19, so was pleased overall.   The swim was well executed this year.  No congestion and plenty of room to pass.  Of course for me, I didn't pass too much.  LOL.   The  bike was rough, but I did the best time ever.  Did anyone feel their bike split was too fast?  The run was nice and there were plenty of water stations.  I really like tri-indy and will do the OLY next year.

Congrats to everyone!!!

This was my first Oly- finished in 3:25, which beat my goal of 3:30.  I don't mind being in the BOP for my first longer race.  I have only been really training for about 12 weeks.  I echo what others have said about the bike route- NOT GOOD!  I saw lots of flat tires around the route.  I am officially bit by the tri bug after this race.  I definitely feel really motivated to keep training and come back and do this race in under 3 hours next year.

2:33:21 for me, I had no time expectations (other than the T times) since this was my first outing at this distance. I just wanted to be the best I could. Pleased with all my times except the T times, they were slower than should of.
Swim was cold but after first 100 yd you never noticed.
The bike course was one rough mother, corners too tight for the speeds we were carrying (that could be operator judgment error though)
The run was just short of terrific.
On to Muncie on Sept 4th for my next attempt at an Oly.

Lots of fun.  Goal time of 3:00 hours and finished in 2:53 so I am happy with it.  Saw a guy over over his bars after submerging his front tire in a hole.  Roads were terrible and I did tend to hang a little further left than what was typical but kept a close eye out for people wanted to pass.

Cool meeting OldTeen at the swim start, perhaps next time we should set a meet up location.  If I am not doing Steelhead Half Iron next year I will definatly do this one again.

I was really pleased with my effort today. This is my second season and this was my first repeat race, so it was nice being able to see my improvement over last year. Was hoping to go under 2:20 and ended up 2:16:02. Felt sluggish on the bike, but I think that was mainly the road conditions. Run felt great!

1.5 km Swim 26:36.2 (Tri Indy 2010), 31:01.5 (Tri Indy 2009)
40 km Bike 1:06:04.7 (2010), 1:15:04.3 (2009)
10 km Run 0:40:09.1 , 0:51:27.7 (2009)
Final Time 2:16:02.2 (2010), 2:40:36.2 (2009)

Looking forward to the Columbus Challange Sprint next Saturday. Anyone else going to be there?

Pretty upset with my performance today...just didn't feel right.  The results turned out ok (5/23 in my age group), but so many things went wrong.  Loved the race though! Even though the canal was super cold, it was a fun swim and the bike and run courses were nice and flat.

Great job!!

I'm a lot slower (& older ) but also pleasantly surprised by my year-year improvement (24min OA, inc 9'/7'/7' on S/B/R, but lost a little @T1 vs last yr).  Satisfying to see extra training time pay off.
