I'm in for one of the races. I haven't decided on the Oly or the Sprint. I'm coming from Dallas and will be camping the weekend at the state park. I'll probably go for the Oly, but I'm not quite where I wanted to be training-wise and I'm a little intimidated by the hills and my 11-21 cassette, so I'm pondering hitting the Sprint on Sunday, so I'll be sure to enjoy the whole weekend

Yeah...we are getting there real early Sat morn so we can watch the race.  We got a hotel that night, so we didn't have to wake up early and drive 1.5 hours on Sunday.

Looks like good weather for Sunday so far as well.

Camy -- If it makes you feel any better, there are plenty of downhills   It will be a fun weekend, regardless of which race you do!  Have you done the Lake DeGray race before?

No, I've not done a Degray race before. I was going to do the Iron Mt HIM a couple of years ago, but had to back out of it due to non-triathlon related reasons.

In fact, I've not done any races outside of Tx, pretty much all in the DFW area, so I'm really a flatlander and about the only hills are really rollers. I guess I need to decide soon as I don't need to hit the extra $10 after tomorrow @ noon.

Good luck!  I am also doing the sprint.  I will wave enthusiastically if I see anyone wearing a tri top like yours.  If it's not you, the person will just think I'm crazy

I was there today.  Did the swim and bike portion.

They were already setting up the parking lot with the transition area.

Those hills are gonna be my death...they pissed me off today.  I wanted a sub 50 min bike ride for the race, but doubt that's gonna happen.

Now it looks like rain for the race.  I'm all for that as long as there's no lightning.  A lil cool off would be nice.  By the time I finished today it was 97 with 116 heat index...blah!

I flew up past 40mph on more than one occasion.  NO WAY I'd do that on a wet road.   And I was counting on that speed to help me fly up the hills that followed.  Stink!!

Yup!  My husband is doing the Du, so we're making a whole weekend out of it.  Lots of folks I train with are doing the Oly, too, so I guess I'll be doing a lot of cheering that day.

Cool...I'll be the one watching on Sat carting around my Cervelo. I can't check into Hotel til after the race on Sat, so I'll just bring it around with me versus risking it getting jacked from the back of my car

Great!  If I notice anyone hauling around a Cervelo, I will wave like a mad woman.

I'm so excited about the whole weekend.  Now if I can just get through the next two days at work...

I'd like to go to the Oly, but I'm not sure my family can handle that much triathlon. We'll see what we have going on.

I didn't make it today, but I did get my bib #310. I'll probably be more recognizable as the guy in the ditch halfway up one of the hills.I'll manage in the heat, but those hills are going to kill me. The road doesn't look too good after coming down the big hill coming back.

Ha...right on, just don't hog the ditch all to urself...save some room for me.Some of those swimmers were flyin today, some shldn't have even been in the water. On guy finished the 1500 yards in 19 mins and the top guy on the bike averaged 24.4 MPH...and that was over 20 miles on them hills.Only like 6 or 7 people did the Du though

I hope everyone had fun today in the heat and hillz!!!  I loved every minute until after the finish line when I briefly thought I was going to hurl.  Also, the moment after I made it up that first hill and realized I'd pushed wayyyy too hard on it was a little tough.  Luckily I regained my composure quickly.

It was my very first.  Was it anyone else's first?  Pitbull?

I'm considering the sprint in Heber, but I heard that last year it was really cold, and I don't really want to buy a wetsuit   It is on my birthday weekend, so that woudl be a fun way to spend it!

Yeah...they said water wld be around 70. I can deal with that without a wet suit. My buddy did Iron Mtn at Degray in April and the water was in the 60s...cold, but do-able without a wet suit.My next race is the Hotter N hell at the end of this month, then back to getting ready for Heber

I had a blast today. I really liked this race. I seriously thought I'd be walking up the big hill before the turnaround, but it wasn't so bad.

The water shower just past the chute was a real nice touch.
