Total Time = 1h 58m 57s
Overall Rank = 154/161
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 31/35
Pre-race routine:

Registered the previous day and set up kit the night before. Got up 45 mins before needing to leave and had porridge with banana and a coffee
Event warmup:

Parked kit in transition, had another coffee. Listened to music, went to the loo then got suit on. Walked to the lake to watch the other competitors. Now great as it was windy and cold at times so I started to get a little chilly, I don't think the tight suit helped. Race breifing then into the water. Tried to float and chill out.
Swim
  • 14m 20s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 52s / 100 meters
Comments:

Nervous at the start but I settled into a rhythm which was good. Getting round the buoy was a challenge as everyone was piling on.
What would you do differently?:

Practise sighting, move more to the outside on approach to the buoy.
Transition 1
  • 09m 15s
Comments:

Long run from swim to transition meant a long transition time. This time I decided to desuit before going to the bike which was definitely thr right thing to do.
What would you do differently?:

Practice getting out of the wetsuit. Get better at running.
Bike
  • 46m 54s
  • 19.5 kms
  • 24.95 km/hr
Comments:

Good bike, tough hills but coped well with them and the bike made all the difference. Much more confident on it now. The gears did need adjusting though and I should've check the tyres.
What would you do differently?:

Check bike and tune gears.
Transition 2
  • 02m
Comments:

Dismount poor but the rest was OK.
What would you do differently?:

Take jelly beans with me and eat them on the cycle in, instead of trying to gob some in T2
Run
  • 46m 25s
  • 5 kms
  • 09m 17s  min/km
Comments:

Slow and plodding as usual but I did get into a rhythm and paced steadily across the run.
What would you do differently?:

Run more! Loose weight? :o)
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching at the end and patching up the chafing thigh that was beginning to bleed.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight, lack of practice with the suit, nervous tension andd sighting in the swim.

Event comments:

The event didn't have clearance from the police to allow filtering at the lights so we were told we had to queue, this led to time deductions. These didn't seem to take into account the total amount stopped for. People jumped queue's and the marshalls gave mixed messages. All in all a bit of a pain. Hopefully they'll get more sorted out next time.
