Comments: Not too bad though I struggled a bit to get my rhythm/breath. Since I only had 1 legitimate hour of sleep the night before with everything going on and my mind going all over the place pretty good for me. What would you do differently?: Get some actual sleep and have the mindset of being in a race. Transition 1
Comments: No idea why I'm so slow in transition anymore. I must show more urgency in my next race. What would you do differently?: Speed it up. Would help if I found a dry transition area just once! Bike
Comments: Felt like this is where my lack of sleep and focus caught up to me. Didn't seem to be racing or attacking the course just kind of doing it. Still not too bad considering but definitely left some time out there especially on the couple long really flat sections. Transition 2
Comments: Very average but at least I remembered my race belt this time! Run
Comments: Good run well within myself and even managed the one hill very well. Didn't push it as like I said my mind wasn't really in race mode but still an enjoyable run. Still passed quite a few people and enjoyed the folks outside their homes cheering us on. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed a water and a cookie or two. The cookies were a nice surprise as it is the 'Cheap' and not so easy so wasn't expecting anything other than water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Mindset/lack of sleep plus just my middle aged self! Event comments: 1st Jersey Shore Multisport experience and loved the race and value they provide. Just awesome. Plan on trying this one again next year and reallyl going at it hard. Last updated: 2010-01-04 12:00 AM

Finally getting around to writing this report. Almost didn't do the race as found out the day b4 that wife had thyroid cancer. I wasn't even going to bring it up when she said to go ahead and do it since we paid. Offered to skip it anyway as was only $35 but she said to go ahead since who knows what the rest of the year will bring.
Got up early as a 6:50 start and headed on out. As with all my races started raining and raining harder the closer I got to the site.
Brief swim in the bay in my wetsuit to see if I needed one or not. Decided not to which was the best choice ever as when I went to remove it my shirt was stuck in the zipper and wouldn't budge. Luckily one of the lovely ladies in transition had scissors and had to cut my shirt to get me loose. Would've been an awful way to DNF for not being able to get the wetsuit off!
