Swim
  • 29m 40s
  • 1650 yards
  • 01m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was my first race, so I just relaxed and tried to finish. If I do the race again next year, I'll try to swim faster and get a better time.

I felt bloated after the race. Not sure if it was the yogurts I ate...
What would you do differently?:

I would not stop before the finish line to let people take pictures of me. That can wait until after the finish! I didn't realize it at the time that the clock was still ticking and I had not "finished" yet!
Post race
Warm down:

Eh. Nothing.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Navigating. I swam a little off course a couple of times. Also, I would have swam faster if I had practiced more (duh).

Event comments:

Nice race. It was inspiring to hear about how we're helping families with cancer. It wasn't so fun to stand in the hot sun during the ceremony, but what are you going to do about that...it's the beach.

FYI...race results are posted at the end of the swim and at Coolrunning.com

Performance: Good
Suit: Xterra sleeveless
Course: It was definitely nice to have the wetsuit on. I got used to the water after a few minutes. I liked the course - when I breathed on my left I could usually see a buoy and therefore know I was on course without having to sight constantly. It seemed like there were a lot of volunteers/angel swimmers around making sure everyone stayed on course. The buoy situation was a little confusing - they should have 2 buoys or an alternate colored buoy where people turned around.
