Cheyenne Sprint Triathlon
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 51m 13s
Overall Rank = 36/54
Age Group = 1-39 Athena
Age Group Rank = 6/8
Pre-race routine:

Coconut Shake about 0530. Arrived at transition 0630
Event warmup:

200 yard swim
Swim
  • 13m 39s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 30s / 100 yards
Comments:

First time swimming in a wetsuit and 2nd time in open water. After the first 200 hundred I was more comfortable with navigation and movement and was able to settle into a better stroke.
What would you do differently?:

relax more and sight less
Transition 1
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

I took off wet suit, put on run skirt, put on shoes helmet and sunglasses then ran with bike to mount area
What would you do differently?:

Not sure yet
Bike
  • 58m 29s
  • 14 miles
  • 14.36 mile/hr
Comments:

I was on my 10 year old Walmart Schwinn mountain bike. Although I did go faster than my practice rides, it took a lot out of me by the time I got to the run. Also apparently I was not spinning well. I drank plenty of water, but I didn't eat anything.
What would you do differently?:

Spin more and have a road bike. Also eat something.
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

I didn't have a shoe change, But I racked my bike the wrong direction the first time and had to change it so the rack didn't fall over. Also forgot my racebelt w/ number.
What would you do differently?:

Rack my bike the correct way the first time and remember to grab my race belt
Run
  • 36m 44s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

The bike hurt me more than it had in practice, so I did walk quite a few times in the first half of the run. I had 2 energy gels, but it would have helped to have some energy gels in the last part of the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Not walk, have more gels before the run and spin more on the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

walk around park

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Limited open water practice. I wasn't bothered by the lake, but I wasn't used to sighting and it took me a while to get a good body position and rhythm. Bike and spinning. I could have used some higher gears and had I spun more on the hills it would have saved my legs a little bit for the run.

Event comments:

Very well organized and lots of volunteers. Good course.

Your awesome!!!! It was great to read your RR and compare notes! Our bike times were very close - you would have smoked me with a road bike! Any thoughts of competing in another tri - I decided on the Boulder Sunset on September 11th, unfortunately packet pickup is the day before so I will probably be spending 2 days in Boulder.
