Total Time = 1h 36m 41s
Overall Rank = 69/136
Age Group = 40-49
Age Group Rank = 7/12
Pre-race routine:

Bowl of Vector and Gatorade/water mix.
Event warmup:

About 10-15min in water trying to get used to the wetsuit as it was my first time swiming with one on.
Swim
  • 19m 12s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 34s / 100 meters
Comments:

Not used to swimming in open water, a mass of people or a wetsuit.
What would you do differently?:

Rent the wetsuit for the week before and practice in open water. The mass of people will just have to come with experience. I tried to start off to the side, but so did everyone else.
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

A little slow. Hilary said that I was trying to do to much and I need to simplify it. First time with a wetsuit, I think that part went alright.
What would you do differently?:

Simplify it.
Bike
  • 45m 2s
  • 20 kms
  • 26.65 km/hr
Comments:

I felt good on the bike, I may have been able to push a little harder, but I was afraid of not having anything left for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Went very well, my best yet.
What would you do differently?:

Practice a little more.
Run
  • 28m 4s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 37s  min/km
Comments:

Best I have felt on a run yet, although I started my kick too early and had to slow my pace a little, but then was able to kick again for the last 100m or so.
What would you do differently?:

Gauge my kick a little better.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking around the facility and taking it all in... that was fun!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of experience with a wetsuit.

Event comments:

I loved this race! It was a whole different caliber of racer than I was used to. I loved watching the other distances swimming and finishing. I had a blast.
