All,

My brother-in-law will be visiting this weekend and is bringing his road bike. He's from Denver and had taken me on some sweet loop rides up there (they have a fantastic trail system). I'd like to give him something comparable - but, just seem to be drawing a blank...

Any suggestions? I'm looking for something in the 25 to 50 mile range.

BTW - he's a "casual" rider - so, heading up to Sandia Peak is probably not a good idea... :-)

The first thing that comes to mind is the Bosque Trail.  If you start at the trail head on Alameda and ride it to the end and back I think it somewhere in the 30-40 mile range.  It's flat as a pancake except for going down under the major roads and back up the other side.  It's a beautiful ride but is in need of some maintenance.  The cracks needs to be filled in again because they are becoming a literal pain in the butt.

Thanks Tim - the Bosque was the only thing I could come up with too....
I was hoping for a loop (I'm not a fan of the "out-and-backs")....

I think I have one planned out...

From San Antonio & Louisiana:
* West on San Antonio into Journal Center area.
* Get on North Diversion Channel Route and head south to Indian School
* West on Indian School to Edith
* South on Edit to Mountain
* West on Mountain to the Bosque Trail
* North on the Bosque Trail to Alameda
* East on Alameda to 4th
* North on 4th until it turns into Tramway
* East on Tramway (hill) to Paseo Del Norte
* West on Paseo Del Norte to Eubank
* South on Eubank to Heritage / North Pino Trail
* East on Heritage / North Pino Trail to Harper
* East on Harper to Wyoming
* Wyoming south to Burlison
At this point, we are basically back at my house...

Mileage should come it around the mid-30s.

What do you guys think?
Is there anything there I should avoid?

I'd go drive that section of 4th where it hits tramway and make sure you guys will be comfortable there. That construction area changes constantly it seems. I'm sure it's doable.

Heck, if anything, you could zig zag from 4th, east to Edith and take that north to Tramway...doesn't it hit there somehow?

That actually wasn't too bad...

The Tramway hill sucked, especially with 25 miles behind me - but, good for training!
